Having visited art museums of Columbus and Cleveland, I found this to be fairly similar in feel. There was a variety of pieces from many eras with an emphasis on Cincinnati artists especially the Rookwood Pottery company. There was not as much art of ancient civilizations as you would see in Cleveland, though. Highlights included a room where a large... More

Cincinnati Art Museum features great artwork from artists like Van Gogh, Manet, Monet, Andy Warhol, glass art by Dale Chihuly, and pottery by Rookwood and so very much more. The Museum Center is free with a small fee to park (but it can be waived if you purchase something in the gift shop or café). There are two floors hosting... More

An old museum with wonderful variety of permanent displays, rotating displays from storage, and traveling shows. Displays themselves are ever-better and increasingly interactive where that makes sense. An exception is the current show by a photographer whose images from nature range from stunningly beautiful to prints that look like something didn't work in the darkroom. Or maybe I just didn't... We LOVE this place--and not just because it's free, although that is a wonderful benefit. The third floor is contemporary art. Don't know how often they change the exhibits but there was some great stuff we didn't see when we were last here 2 years ago. An exhibit of 3-D pieces on the second floor was also wonderful. Unlike our... More

This is one of my favorite art museums we've been to. The Educational center is awesome for the kids. There are quite a few projects they can work on, and it's good for a wide range of ages. The scavenger hunt was also really wonderful (you can print it off their website or ask for it at the desk). There's... More

Wife and I visited this past weekend for St Valentines Day. Neither of us are "artsy" but we have basic appreciation for art. Our favorite part was the local Cincinnati art section. The museum is an older stately building in a beautiful area. It is free to visit and only $4 to park so it's a no brainier to visit.

We've been to the Cincinnati Art Museum many times over the past decades. Our visits have always been delightful, and this last recent visit no different. The museum displays a broad cross-section of art, from ancient to modern. Displays are well thought out, and lighting is mostly excellent. The museum building itself is an architectural art work, as is the... More

Went with family to the Cincinnati Art Museum to see the special exhibition "High Style" on the last weekend it was on show. This was a most interesting exhibition tracing the works of fashion designers of the 20th century through 1980. After that we visited selected regions of the museum. I loved the main hall off the lobby that had... More

I went to see the Chihuly chandelier. I'm glad for the free admission because after walking around the whole collection I would have been just fine seeing the Chihuly and calling it a day. The chandelier is right away in the lobby. My husband said the history of Cincinnati was interesting because he reads displays whereas I am a person... More

We visited late on a Sunday morning. Parking is $4.00 but admission is free. It has a very nice collection but unusually organized. if you want to see a specific style or period of works it takes a fair amount of effort. Ever present staff are very helpful offering advice throughout the museum. It is well worth the time is... More
