About
Canvasback was born of the quest to find great new terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon. Founded in 2012, Canvasback is guided by a team that includes legendary Vineyard Manager Dick Boushey. After planting a 20-acre Longwinds Estate Vineyard on Red Mountain, Canvasback began exploring other remarkable Washington terroirs to create an expanded lineup of wines, including Syrah, Riesling and single-vineyard and appellation-designated Cabernet Sauvignons, led by winemaker Joseph Czarny. Just 15 minutes southwest of downtown Walla Walla, the Canvasback tasting room is designed to embody the rustic elegance and frontier spirit of the region. We offer an idyllic setting for both indoor and outdoor seated tastings.

The Elevated Tasting was both disappointing and not a good value. $85 per person and hosted by a curt and dismissive host. The wines are great, but the tasting was very dissapointing. Suggest either skipping or going with one of the smaller tasting experiences. Also, I emailed them directly with comments and feedback and heard nothing back.

Canvasback is close to several other wineries, yet once you arrive you think you’re in a secluded valley filled with vines. The wine is exceptional. To start, there was a wonderful Semi-dry Riesling. This is followed by four reds all served simultaneously so you can compare. You can also bring your own lunch to eat while you sip. There are tables in the shade. Also there is a duck pond and lawn games to enjoy.

Came here for a lovely afternoon of wine tasting on a hot day. The breezeway was shady and perfect. When we arrived, the place was quite empty. It was kind of odd that we were advised "not to wander around" when we thought we could walk around a little bit with our glasses.

The wines were lovely. They do the tasting "flight style". Got a bonus with Syrah rose and Riesling. While we enjoyed the cabernet sauvignon, ultimately we decided the price point was a bit higher against some of the others we tasted that day (other wineries).

Tasting fee would have been waived with purchase. Since a friend was in the "industry", they extended the courtesy and waived our tasting fee. That was totally unexpected!!
