Our recent visit took us through this area on 299 to Redding. The devastation of the fires to the area. 299 is now open and passable, but the Park was closed.

This is a magnificent recreational area and the rangers were very friendly and helpful. Even so, there does not appear to be any historical significance.

This was our first time here. Great place to enjoy the lake, and learn about the history of the area. The staff were really nice, and answered all our questions. A must see place if you are in the area.

The lake and falls are breathtaking. We spent the day at Crystal Creek Falls swimming and climbing the rocks. Bathrooms are nearby. The area was clean and well maintained. The visitor center was informative. This is a place I’d love to return to many times.

Per recommendations, I stopped at the Whiskeytown Visitor Center first, before proceeding anywhere on my trip. I had a six-year-old with me, so I was only looking to do very mellow walking. The employees at the center were helpful showing me where to go. The...More

Whiskeytown was beautiful. It is rich in natural beauty and gold rush history! A great place for couples or families to spend a day or two. The lake is breathtaking.

I went up for a weekend to do some hiking, Crystal Creek Falls (not really a hike), Brandy Creek Falls (started from the BEGINNING), and Whiskeytown Falls. It was a lovely trip. Luckily, I didn't see any bears! :) It was a hot day, but...More

During our visit the whole area was closed. Trees were burned and roads were closed. No visitors were allowed in the area. Check with the National Park Service for details on the reopening.
