This is a great little museum in the old Yazoo & Miss RR depot. The model train layouts are really neat, and I am a train lover, both real and model. The scale models of the gunboats and other boats are extremely well detailed and...More

Not really the greatest museum but to get a sense of what took place here it offers a look at what happened that is pretty interesting. I agree that kids probably wouldn't be that fascinated except with some of the models, but for us it...More

Large model of vicksburg battlefield. Many models of ironclad river boats and others. Large model railway layout which was operational when we visited. Man in charge gave us some history on the battle and vicksburg.

There was more to see than I expected. A number of Bill Atteridge's magnificent carved, wooden ship models of Confederate naval vessels are on display, along with those of some other artists. There is a diorama of the battlefield which contains a couple thousand miniatures.

We come here for the little gift shop. They always have the right souvenir to take home to family and friends. The little museum is nice too. We like the short film shown. Worth some time.

The undoubted highlight of a visit is the Diorama of the siege of Vicksburg. However we felt the accompanying exhibits did not live up to the historical significance of Vicksburg to the Western Campaign.

This is kind of deceiving. It has nothing to do with a depot. It is a minature replica of the Civil War in Vicksburg under glass. It has replicas of gunboats and the city with the train that ran around it. Just not our cup...More
