This is past the east end of Kuhio beach where Queens Beach starts, next to a nice banyan tree. This is a nice statue and really does capture the surfer spirit. If you look at the statue with the sand, ocean and sky in the background then it is an amazing view.

This is just a statue that tells you that surfing is the Hawaii thing, lots of people taking selfies you almost have to be in line to do so, worth 3 minutes and go for a walk, lots of interesting things to do around since this is located in the middle of Waikiki.

A life size bronze statue giving homage to the father of surfing. Only in Hawaii... Right on Waikiki beach .

Surfing is such a part of Hawaiian culture, do is fitting that they have this surfer statue overlooking the beach. It's good for a quick photo or a passing glance.

We couldn't find this any where and when we asked a local, they had no idea, not sure if this was a temporary art display or it has moved.

A city is enriched when art is displayed for the public. Love this statue of a surfer....right on Waikiki Beach with actual surfers (mostly beginners) in the water behind. There are actually quite a few statues here at the beach.

Ok it is only a statue of a surfer on a wave but it does proclaim just how important surfing is to the Hawaiian people because it exists. Right next to a huge banyan tree opposite the Honolulu Zoo on the beachfront. Just another reason to keep walking along the beachfront discovering new items of interest.

In some ways this seems like no big deal. Perhaps. But it is a good looking, well done statue. But I have never seen one before. It's a bit unusual. Where else but Hawaii would you see a surfer statue? It adds to the ambiance. Obviously they are proud of the surfer heritage.

Honolulu has no shortage of memorials and statues. This is a statue of a guy standing on a surfboard, which is probably one of the things that Hawaiians love the most - surfing. A great photo opportunity.
