Enthusiastic, flexible, and experienced Dive Master, we had a great trip! Excellent divers attracted, great companions! We went to see the Sea Tiger wreck and another reef. It was a small group and the dive leader provided excellent service, paying attention to each of us. The dive leader involved us in the dive location decision making and showed us some unique aspects of each site as we dived. He is also enthusiastic about filming his dives to document his trips, so you’ll have a nice amount of video to look back on your experience! Highly recommend!

I went to Hawaii to scatter my parents' ashes in the ocean, so I can not speak to any of their other services. I wanted a simple no fuss way to do this, and they came through. Staff was very helpful. I was concerned about finding flowers, and they told me to go to Walmart, which was perfect, and in budget. All the other services I researched for ash scattering cost three times as much, and offered way more than I wanted or needed. Great communication with the staff, clear directions, and I was able to do what I came to do. Ken took photos for me, and texted them to me. Overall very satisfied with the respectful way my needs were handled.

We dove with these guys a little over a year ago. Today we had a somewhat poor experience with another company, making us remember how great Rainbow Scuba was. We wish all future scuba trips could be with these guys.

I recently got certified and was enticed by Rainbow Scuba's low prices and good reviews. After I went diving with Jeff, I left with an icky feeling in my stomach.

First of all, they picked me up an hour late. Which seems like FOREVER in the scorching Waikiki sun. After half an hour I moved to the hotel lobby and made them come find me. They had my cell number so where's the professionalism? But I let it go because this was my first post-certification dive and I was ready to have fun.

We picked up another diver and I was excited that it was just two of us with one guide. The other diver had never been before. Ever. Ken gave him a "briefing and intro to diving" on the way to the boat as he drove. I would have been terrified to go diving after that 15 minute whirlwind of a speech.

Maybe it's because I'm new to diving so I stick to the rules and I don't know which are followed by everyone and which are meant more as guidelines. But Jeff, our dive guide, was poking and prodding in all the crevices and rocks and I'm pretty sure that's breaking a rule or three. He ended up finding us an octopus which I was fascinated by, but then he put his fingers to his mouth signaling "shhh" and then took it home to eat!!! Ugh. We just took pictures with your dinner??

Cash only too - super shady. Never again.

Aloha! Sorry to hear of your unpleasant experience with us! What day did you come out with us? We don't have a record of any certified diver coming out with a first time diver. Unlike many of the other dive companies on Oahu, We do not mix certified divers with first time divers. The afternoon dives are for the first time divers as we inform all of our customers on our website. So i seriously question the validity of this review... and all your reviews ever were done on same day? Really? 1 hour late? I don't know of any day we were that late, but if so for that I am sorry! We try to maintain a schedule but sometimes the morning dives run a little longer. And yes we do call our customers if running late and how were we able to find you if you went inside? We didn't call you? Our website also clearly states the cash only as to avoid associated credit card fees. The Octopus, Well no there are no rules regarding the hunting of them. Unlike the protected sea turtles they are numerous... We don't hunt them on our charters but do take pictures with them as our customers enjoy that! The fishing charters all take pictures with their fish they catch. But again i analogize if taking pictures with an octopus offended you! We are a small company and this one star rating devastates our online reputation! As our competition here on TripAdvisor knows! We strive to ensure everyone that comes diving with us has fun! I understand in business you can't please everyone all the time but 1 star? Again if this review is genuine, we regret sincerely for not providing you with the best diving in Honolulu, Hawaii as this is what we strive to do!

I had a really bad experience with Jeff and that company! First of all, what it truly UNACCEPTABLE, he abuses marine life! He puts hands and metal stick to holes and pokes animals, he abuses them, he took octopus and was putting it on divers hands for pictures, the same with corals! What kind of person does that kind of things?!? The whole diving experience was truly so bad! Please do not waste your money and time with this company! Especially if you really care for sea life! They do not respect animals at all! And I will not leave it like that, I will report it as it needs to STOP what he is doing!!!

Highly unprofessional and unsafe. Spend the extra $10 and go with a different dive company. Pick up was convenient but this company does not dive safely or treat the ocean or customers appropriately.

I called to book in a dive 5 days in advance. They took my information, sizes for wetsuit, cell number, hotel info (including room and phone number for contact info) and confirmed dive location, price, and that I should be ready for pick up between 715-730 on the morning of my dive. That day, I waited there for pick up but no one ever came. When I called in around 750, they said their boat was being serviced and they had no dives going out that day and they didn't know I had booked in. I called a bunch of other dive shops but had missed all the morning pick ups and couldn't find anyone who was doing an afternoon dive. Totally screwed me over because I was flying out the next night and wouldn't have the required time between diving and flying if I dove the next day. I would not count on these guys - they are clearly disorganized and unreliable.

Well I searched the web for many days to find a dive operation on Oahu that offered the most for your buck. I found Rainbow Scuba charged $90 for all gear rental and a 2 tank dive where most other places charged $130. Rainbow also offered FREE pictured. So I called there 2 weeks before I got to Oahu. They told me that they do not book that far in advance and to call just a few days before I want to dive. So 3 days before I left to go to Oahu I called again. Again they told me "just call 1-2 days before you want to dive..we don't book that far ahead" (can you see where this is going?) So...I get to Oahu and call Rainbow the day before I want to dive, and guess what ?? "Oh sorry we are all booked up until next Thursday. There is no room on the boat. " so here I am I have planed my entire week in Oahu with the family and planed to dive on Saturday . All the other days we have other plans. I had to call around to find a boat that could take me diving. Thankfully I found DIVE OAHU. Thanks for saving my dive in Oahu. and to Rainbow...thanks for screwing me over !!!

I hadn't dived since November but Ken made everyone feel at ease with his excellent chill and fun style. Everything by the book but at everyone's right level. Super nice guy so big up my friend - thanks for a great couple of dives buddy. 5 star recommend!

My husband and I dove with Rainbow Scuba (Ken and Tom) back in January 2013. We decided to dive with Rainbow Scuba due to their excellent reviews. When we made the reservation over the phone, we let them know that it had been a couple of years since we dove and that we weren't looking for a very difficult dive. Ken assured us that the dive we were scheduled for would be great for us.
Once we arrived we again reminded them that it had been a while since we dove and had never dove in Hawaii specifically. This was met with mostly frustration on the part of the instructors given that the other divers in our group were more advanced. This did nothing to assuage our concerns with our dive. Thus setting the tone for the 2 morning dives. Not only was it the deepest dive we've ever done (read increasing concerns here), but we felt rushed and pressured as our dive master was creating a pace that my husband and I had extreme difficulty keeping up with, as our ears wouldn't clear as well at such depths.
Add to this the fact that the two dives (one wreck and one reef) were very underwhelming and lacking in marine life (I do understand that they can't make ocean life appear). It was just the icing on the cake of not feeling comfortable on the dives.
