Beautiful area, but you must respect the ocean and cliffs. It’s easy to see how people die there. While visiting with my daughters just two days ago, there was a local man warning people to stay out of the water at the bottom of the stairway/path. Just looking at the waves, it was obvious to me nobody should be jumping in. We arrived at the point in time that 3 other local men decided two idiots in the water wouldn’t make it out without help. We witnessed them spending about 40 minutes in the water saving the two, while also warning people on the cliffs/rocks to get away so they weren’t smashed against rock or swept off the ledges. One man rescued had deep lacerations on his feet and other scrapes/cut all along his legs from the rocks.

Bottom line-if you visit and don’t listen to the locals or just use common sense looking at the waves-you may not make it out of they don’t show up to save you.

This is a quite interesting place. This is not a beach, it’s literally the back of some houses which have a wall that leads to the ocean. There seems to be a place where locals go to fish and jump into the water/swim for fun. Not the most comfortable place to stay for very long, but definitely very beautiful

Wonderful spot to watch the sunset, whales and large waves crash into rocks. People jump off the wall, you see paddlers and body boarders and watch the waves crash. People of all ages and a few nights someone had speakers and was playing music.

In an island full of beaches, this is an off-the-path attraction. This park is marked as Koko Kai Mini Beach Park at the entrance. This is a formation of rocks, jutting out into the sea. And waves keep crashing onto the rocks making it fun to watch. The lack of crowds was a pleasant surprise from a lot of other places by the sea in southern Oahu. This park is in a residential neighborhood, with expansive houses all around the area. I did watch a few people jump from the cliffs into the sea, but I would definitely not recommend it, unless you are a very good swimmer and are extremely comfortable with the ocean. Be very cautious when exploring China Walls - noticeably large waves keep crashing into the rocks, which could be slippery in some places. All in all, a good place to see the waves in the backdrop of an expansive ocean!

Using google map and/or waze is strongly recommended because there were no singages that point to this place. Based on the given instructions, we were given a nice tour around an upscale neighborhood or subdivision. Eventually, we reached a culdesac road where there is a vacant lot between two residences. We followed some cement blocks that acted as steps towards the bushes. After the bushes we were rewarded with a beautiful sight of a rocky cliff. Some people at mid day were jumping off, though the height wasnt that much. We walked to the left for a better view of the ocean and the waves smashing into the rocks.

To park, I backtracked to the road prior to the street into the culdesac.

This is just a kilometer away and inside the same neighborhood for the spitting caves.

My husband and I were quite interested in seeing China Walls and Spitting Caves but changed our minds after seeing how to get to them. They are in the upscale neighborhood Hawaii Kai. Public access is between two properties. Look for marker 119A. The path becomes narrower as one descends. Navigating the path is a challenge itself. Trivia: A surfer (Okita) was one of the first to surf here in 1948 and said it resembled the Great Wall of China. Three stars because I did not go down the trail.

Worth a quick ride to see a beautiful part of Oahu. We loved the views of the water and less crowds. We went with friends and had some amazing pictures of the water and sunshine. You can jump in the water if you dare! Know that you do drive through a neighborhood to get to it.

This review is for those of you who are thinking of jumping off the China walls. Unless you see other people jumping too, do not do it. There is only one sure way of getting out of the water without getting swept off the rocks. It is further off to the left. Also only go on a very low swell day. I went when the swells were about 4 to 6 feet thinking I could climb up the rocks just fine but I was wrong and I almost died after getting swept off the wall two times. There was a really good surfer nearby who saved my life. The place is beautiful and it is a cool place to hang out But respect the water. I learned a valuable lesson today. I thank God for that surfer!

China walls is a beautiful place but extremely dangerous. It may look nice and inviting but it just takes one wave to knock you off the rocks or slam you into the cliffs and drown. Many people die here every year. Consider this your warning, if you are thinking of trying to find a swimming spot, I recommend Hanauma Bay or Waimanalo Beach down the road. Just type in china walls death to google and theres many articles in the local newspapers of people dying or getting seriously injured. Don't be the person who has to get rescued or worse.

Today, while surfing, I see a guy jump in and it looked to me like he was doing the doggie paddle. Waves were starting to rise and wash off the ledge. Not a place for beginners or people just off the plane from the mainland. I then hear "throw me the life float!!!" I look in towards the coral cliff and this guy is bouncing off of it. Another surfer pulls him away and I give him my body board. The guy acted like he had a concussion and had hit the wall with the side of his head based on the location of the large scrapes. We managed to get him out--just barely thanks to some bruddahs in the water and top side, Then, another guy had to be pulled out.
Moral of the story: Be safe in Hawaii. Don't jump in if you have no experience you could drown. Those of us in the water are experienced usually in dangerous area like these.
