We found this tour on the Hanauma Bay Tours website (after googling best snorkeling spots in Oahu and Hanauma Bay comes up). We booked the trip and admittedly didn't read the fine print. This Catamaran trip operates out of the Ko'Olina Marina which is a totally different location. We loved the trip so overall this wasn't an issue - but the naming convention is confusing.
Drinks were plentiful and the lunch provided was good. Smooth sailing, no one had issues with sea sickness. After about an hour we get to the snorkeling spot which is around Electric Beach. Lots of fish to see. It's a beautiful view but you're also looking straight at a power plant which is interesting. Plenty of time to snorkel, we bought fish food before. Music on the boat was good.

The trip overall was really fun! It’s broken into 2 segments. 1 where they go look for dolphins and 1 where we stop and swim around and snorkel with sea turtles. The trip starts of with us saying a prayer to Mother Nature-a really cool cultural aspect. Next we went out deep to look for dolphins. We were only able to see a few. This part I felt was really intense since we only had a couple of minutes to get the whole group in the water. I would say if you’re not confident in swimming to go last so you’re not jumping in with so many people. The next portion after going towards the shore is the sea turtle and other activities. This part is way more chill and my favorite part since we had a lot more time in the water. The crew was super helpful and friendly which really elevated the trip. They also have someone taking photos which you can buy for $50 after. I would 100% do this again!

The guides were the best part of the tour. One woman in particular shared so much information, was encouraging, and helped us feel comfortable and welcome. She made the trip. Swimming with the dolphins was a very cool experience although quick. It was a long boat ride out into the ocean to find the pod of dolphins. Then we all jumped into the water like navy seals swam around looking at the dolphins swim and play as they went by, then it was over. We went back closer to shore and snorkeled and played around the boat for a while then the tour was over. The driver of the bus and photographer were awesome too! They made the ride there and back comfortable.

Booked for Saturday, they called and said it was fully booked. fine. options to rebook were Friday and Sunday, the person on the phone recommended Friday because of weather, ok so we booked it. Friday comes, we show up, greeted by the captain, depart on time. once we LEAVE the dock, the captain notifies us that weather was not great in the morning and there will be big swells and there is no guarantee of snorkeling but they'll try...... an hour goes by, we get to the snorkeling spot, they deem it too murky for us to go, and take us right back to shore, an hour and a half early. called for a refund, said we could get 25% back. ridiculous, would not recommend. the crew CLEARLY knew of the conditions and chose to wait until we were unable to back out before letting us know.

Horrible experience. We booked this months ago and it was going to be the highlight of our trip. The email says to show up 30minutes early. We drove 30 minutes and paid for parking. So we were sitting outside the dock waiting and 15 minutes (maybe less) before the tour starts they called and cancelled the tour and the woman on the phone was very polite. She informed us we would get a full refund but we never received an email or any kind of refund. We then got an email thanking us for our visit. We called Hanauma bay about the refund and they were never informed there was any kind of issue and had no idea that the tour was cancelled or refunds were needed. So if we had not called we would have never gotten out $300 back. I would 10/10 recommend friends to try ANYWHERE BUT Hanauma bay. It was out last day in Hawaii and they didn’t offer any kind of replacement snorkeling experience, another slot later the afternoon, or anything so we just missed out on a great experience. I do not usually leave reviews but this was just such a disappointing and disheartening experience and service.

We booked a trip with trip these guys and we were expecting your generic guided tour. What we got was an amazing experience from a super knowledgeable guide named Josh who really got into the deep details and facts about the whole area. He grew up here and lived most of his life here. They show a great love and respect for the island and the animals. He really knows his way around and is a hilarious character with an extensive surfing background! Our driver was Kalapana who also made an extra stop or two for us to get some fresh fruit from a great fruit stand and also stopped to see the palace and capitol! When we visited the turtles, the crew was on top of keeping people from getting too close to them and explained why we wouldn’t want to scare them or stand on their food. I can really appreciate that they take the time and effort to make sure the animals are respected. These guys were great. I would highly recommend them for anything. This has been the best part of the vacation and I recommend doing it early in your stay to see all of the island and get a feel for where things are and what’s fun to do here.

We have a 7 and 8 year old. I went on the trip with low expectations for my 7 year old to be able to snorkel ( I thought my husband or I would take turns staying on the boat with him if snorkeling seemed to scary or hard given that he isn't a super strong swimmer). However, the crew was extremely helpful and kind getting us set up and making sure he felt comfortable. He totally rocked it! We all had such an awesome time and getting to see the beautiful fish was amazing! Bonus was that after snorkeling, the captain took us looking for whales, and he found some humpbacks that put on a great show for us!

Thank you for choosing to sail with us, the Jov family! We're so glad that everyone had a great time and that our crew was able to help your son feel comfortable snorkeling. It's definitely a thrill to see humpback whales up close and we're happy you got to experience that too. Thank you for your kind words and we hope to welcome you aboard again soon!

This was such an amazing experience. If you come to Hawaii, this is a must do. The boat and everyone on it are great vibes and you are always striking up conversations with people. We got lucky and found dolphins within 20mins and then after you go to another part and get to see fishes and sea turtles. The bonus is jumping off the top of the boat, the water slide and standing paddle boards. Plus juice water and snacks! 10/10 experience

Booking through Hanauma Bay Tours was a great choice. More economical than driving and paying all the little charges and equipment rental. Also we were guaranteed access to the Bay. They only allow 120 cars into the parking lot, although you could try and find street parking and hike in.
Michael our driver / guide was awesome. Very knowledgeable, friendly and courteous.
We tried 2 years ago to drive and get into the Bay but it was packed. This was a no brainer booking through Hanauma Bay Tours.
Only downfall was the huge storm on Christmas Day which caused the visibility to be reduced. Also people should follow the rules and NOT touch or walk on the reef. Keep it healthy for future generations!

We recently brought all our kids over Christmas. We bought a tour package which was great until we got to the resort. The line to get in was so long it took us over an hour to get in which made it hard for us to spend a lot of time there since we had to meet back at a certain time to catch our bus back to the hotel. I wish they would have had a separate line for those who bought tour packages so they can get in faster because they are on a time crunch. I wish we could've spent more time there cause my kids were having the best time. I don't feel like we really got our money worth only being able to stay at the Bay for 1 hr 15 min. I understand it was a really busy time to go, however, I think they need to accommodate those who paid a lot of money for the tour to get in faster.
