We had seen Segways many times during our stay across the U.S. Every time we finally found them, we were down to our last few hours before flying out.
...last stop, O`ahu, Hawai`i.
While visiting the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort & Spa, long behold there were Segways riding around the beachwalk surrounding the Lagoon. I approached, who, turned out to be the Opps. Manager for the company, Channelle. She was helpful and more. Not only did she give us excellent resturaunt reccomendations, she sold us on a Segway Tour.
We chose the downtown history tour that they provided. 2-3 Hours of 'Gliding'. We promptly checked in around 9:30am. Channelle was our guide. The tour was $130.00 per person and well worth it! We were escorted to their 'training area' where we got a 20 minute training session on how to ride the Segway Personal Transporter. We had the opportunity to ride the Segway i2/x2. It was intuitive, and easy and soon we were confident and on our way out. Gliding along the beach parks with the ocean to our left and beautiful scenery to our right, Channelle explained to us what it was like for her growing up here. Details in the history were amazing. Kakakao was our highlight. We had been riding along the beach for 15 minutes or so but once we entered this park, our jaws dropped. She took us up to the 'echo stone' Amazing the way sound travels...We snorkeled OUT OF WATER...best experience ever. More fish then we saw on our snorkeling trip to Hanauma Bay. Once into the downtown area we explored the State Capitol, Iolani Palace & Barracks, King Kamehameha Statue, Territorial Building and the old Church Built out of Coral. Then it was down resturaunt row to find cheaper places to eat. After about 3 hours we arrived back at the Hilton Amazed that we were able to travel so far and see so much in such a short amount of time.
All we know is we'll be back for New Years and we will ride again with Segway of Hawaii. If you're looking for something fun for all ages, Segway is worth trying. Their hospitality was above and beyond and their tour guides knowledgable.
