You can buy a Tesla here! Or at least order one since they are probably on back order. Upscale open air mall with many specialty stores and restaurants. Also cultural events, check the mall's schedule. Hula shows on certain nights; the O Nā Lani Sunset Stories Hula Shows are really good.

We had a pleasant visit to this famous mall in Honolulu ! The Banyan Tree near the entrance is especially enchanting. Many of the stores were not open when we arrived there around 10ish, but it was very nice to walk around the outdoors and indoors area. I wish the stores would open at 9:00. They have a variety of stores that suit everyone. The super friendly security guard of the mall took lots of pictures for us that day and that definitely left us with a wonderful memory from our visit there. This time we stayed in Ko Olina, but next time we will definitely stay in the heart of Waikiki because of the International Market Place!

Very disappointing. The only reason we gave it 3 stars was because we saw Kimo and Leilani Kahoano's hula show but from the YouTube video I saw it looks like Kimo was saying farewell. We used to meet friends at the IM but not anymore.
If your market research told you that this is the best remake of an iconic location in Waikiki I would get a new formula. Nobody wants to go here anymore.

Aloha MJMJ-Aloha,
We regret to learn that your most recent visit to International Market Place did not meet your expectations. We understand and respect that our reimagined center has changed in ways that may not be favored by all and we hope that as we grow and settle, we'll be able to offer new memories and experiences that can be appreciated by visitors and locals alike.
We take pride in the ongoing efforts to celebrate and honor our storied past that includes not just the former International Market Place known to most, but also the land of Kaluaokau which once belonged to Queen Emma, and the overall ahupua'a of Manoa that includes Waikiki area.
Throughout our center you'll notice details such as water features representing the 'Apuakeahu Stream and Waiakekaua falls, plants favored by Queen Emma, etched musical lyrics on our elevators honoring Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV, unique imagery of the native Hawaiians who lived and worked the land of the area, the iconic Banyan Tree and more that pay tribute to the many important pieces of our history that weren't afforded the opportunity to be celebrated and honored in past iterations of the market place. We invite you to explore our Cultural Journey on our website at https://shopinternationalmarketplace.com/cultural-journey/ or in person throughout our center indicated with informational plaques placed throughout Level 1 & 2.
While our O Na Lani Sunset Hula Show is currently on hold, we do have plans to continue sharing our history through Hula in the coming months. We’re also excited to share that we’re welcoming some fantastic new locally owned and operated restaurants to our Grand Lanai including the iconic Liliha Bakery, Moani Waikiki and Skybox Taphouse.
We do hope you'll visit Waikiki again and that you'll consider giving us another chance to share our Aloha.

Wow, I’m so glad my friend and I discovered this shopping center. I just wished we did so earlier. This place has every type of store you can imagine plus a wide range of restaurants and bars. I’m a sucker for an indoor/ outdoor shopping center. I love how the trees were growing in the middle and lit up by twinkling lights. There were so many levels to this center too.

There are a wide verity of shopping and dinning choices. The best part is the Free entertainment in the evening in the center of the mall. If you arrive early enough on the 2nd level they have some rocking chairs you can watch the entertainment from.

Last time we visited was back in Dec 2013 before the remodel. We were sad that it was going to be torn down. Now 2020, our first time back to the International Market Place. We were expecting the worse--a sterile commercial mall that looks like any US mall. We were pleasantly surprised.
Love that the old banyan tree is still prominent and a centerpiece of the mall. Yes, it's full of upscale/pricey shops & restaurants, but still a pleasant place to visit for shopping & eating. Plenty of comfy seating and there's even a display of photos of the old International Market Place in its hey-day. There's a Mitsuwa grocery store where you can pick up some reasonably priced eats.

The original International Marketplace has been squeezed out of this prominent location on Kalakaua Street to a narrow corridor on Dukes Lane. A modern 2 level shopping center with chain stores and upper end boutiques now replaces these local stalls/kiosks in what is still called the International Market, but I think another name for the mall would have been more appropriate. It is lovely to walk through this new mall, window shopping, as there are many shops with a variety of goods and even a food court. The covered walkways offer protection from either sun or rainstorm. I would think this mall would be the place to wait out a rainy squall.

I went to the family restroom. Apparently, I wasn t quick enough. Someone knocked intensively while I was still doing my business. Perhaps they thought I was a homeless person, you need to talk on intercom to get access to the restroom. I was inside for perhaps 5 minutes. Never again this place.

This is an open air mall, so what’s not to like?
It’s extremely clean, there is a great variety of food and shopping available, and they do have special events such as luaus and live music.
We went through here every day on our recent trip to Honolulu, and had a great time.
It’s a nice place to walk around and relax, maybe grab a drink or a little bite to eat.
Very nice.

Aloha ChefJHS,
We are glad that you enjoyed your visit to the International Market Place. Sunset Stories hula show is very popular. We hope that you were able to get some great photographs with the performers following the show.
The property prides itself on the synthesis of modern, the land and perpetuation of Hawaiian culture.
Thank you so much for visiting us and your kind words.
We cant' wait to see and serve you again. Mahalo and Aloha!

The reviews are accurate. We were visiting after almost 10 years and hugely disappointed that the place has been turned into a mall. While it’s clear the builders kept a few token reminders of Hawaii around (an awesome banyan tree right in the middle of the mall), this place no longer has the charm and appeal of an island vacation. If I wanted to shop for a fancy pair of shoes or even a Tesla (really?) why would I fly so many hours to an island? There is a huge disconnect in vision here and going by how many actual people shopping now vs when I was here last, the developers must also see how this is a failed business plan. Restore the eclectic charm of the International Marketplace please!

Aloha Ashish,
We regret to learn that our reimagination fell short of your expectations, but we appreciate your honest feedback. Our development teamed worked with DTL , a Hawaiian Strategy Firm to create an environment that celebrates the rich history of this land that came before the last International Market Place. We're proud to have design elements incorporated through the center the pay tribute to Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV - something that was not afforded the opportunity to be showcased in the previous Market Place. We understand and respect that our retail selection has changed in ways that may not fall into everyone’s favor. With a mixture of local stores like Surfline Hawaii, NoaNoa, Hawaiian Island Creations, Martin & Macarthur and more, plus national and unique to market retailers and restaurants, our hope is that visitors and locals alike will find something special and create new lasting memories with us. Mahalo.

Been a while since I've been there. Are there still a bunch of cheap, Asian vendors on the side?

No the International market was actually torn down from what used to be there and they built an indoor/outdoor mall around the Old Banyan Tree. Basically now upscale shops! I in my opinion not worth going to anymore..to pricey for me!

Is there any cheap eats here? When I look at their webpage, it only has like expensive garbage.

Depends on your definition of "cheap eats". If you like Japanese; mostly take out type food - spam musubi, bento boxes, etc. try Mitsuwa Market on the second floor of the Market.
Also has a ramen bar inside Mitsuwa.
There's also a food court on the first floor

Is it now a cement jungle similar to Alaska Moana with a. Lot of trendy stores or have they retained the "old" .Hawaiian ambiance which I loved. I have been coming here since 1962 over 150 times. I would like to know if there are still street vendors since last time I was there was late 2014and renovation on PK Hotel just beginning to accommodate new construction. The street vendors (some) were still there

With the exception of the banyan tree, it is just like other malls with trendy stores and restaurants. There are several areas to sit and listen to the Hawaiian music and people watch. There is an alley nearby with many kiosks that sell pretty much everything and you can haggle over prices.

If you mean all the little carts full of wonderful items, just walk a short distance west on Kalakaua Ave from the International Marketplace, to the Holiday Inn Hotel. There is a small street/alley called Dukes Lane. That is where all the little carts seem to be. To locate this place on Google Maps or Google Earth, just go to: 46 Dukes Lane, Honolulu, HI I hope this helps.
