Magic island is inside of Ala Moana Beach Park has its own parking lot and is almost like its own park. On the end of it, there is a small lagoon. There are also several areas where you can have a family BBQ/picnic. A lot...More

There are almost always events and activities going on. If there are not, it is still worth the walk out there because it is nothing less than gorgeous. It is the best place to go for morning runs.

After a walk along Kapiolani Blvd to Ala Moana Center to burn off breakfast, decide to go to this place to take some photos of the Waikiki skyline with Diamond Head, and kill some time until the Center opened. This was the day after the...More

We went there on Sunday morning and it wasn't crowded but there was a lot going on with children's competitions and joggers etc - it is free and the beach isn't too steep so not dangerous. I enjoyed pulled pork and cabbage from the small...More

This place is so crowded and there are so many homeless and panhandlers, there was even a physical altercation between a group of asian youths throwing up gang signs. You just don't feel safe unless you are with a group and even then it's iffy....More

This was an absolutely lovely spot. It can be a bit crowded but overall there are still plenty of places to get lost. The little inlet provides a nice place to swim without crashing big waves.

Magic Island is adjacent to the Ala Moana Beach Park and has public access toilets, exterior showers for washing off the sand and salt water, and usually adequate parking. I was there the afternoon of the Relay for Life so half of the parking lot...More

The beaches at Waikiki are crowded, hot and the water may not be the cleanest. Instead, go to Magic island near the Ala Moana Center (good local bus service) and you will find a clean, safe, family beach with lots of room. There is shade...More

No, I have not seen any barbeque grills at Magic Island park. There are picnic tables but no grills. Most people bring their own mats, chairs and find a place to set up either in the grass or near the beach. Many bring their... More
