I did my three day SSI open water certification with Hawaiian Diving Adventures. Before I came to do the in-person training, I had some technical difficulties with the online-training. They were very understanding and worked with me on it. I was ultimately able to finish my training ahead of time, but the fact that they were flexible and understanding was very reassuring to me.
On the first day, we did our training in a protected beach. For all three days, my diving instructor was Jordan Spalding. I have nothing but great things to say about Jordan. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. I felt that I received training that was above and beyond the SSI requirements and that he genuinely cared about my comfort and safety. Coming in to the training, I had quite a bit of anxiety about SCUBA diving and swimming in the open ocean. He listened to my concerns, respected my boundaries (e.g. I didn’t want to seek out sharks on my first two open water dives), was very encouraging. I appreciated his candor and patience with my anxieties. I left feeling very comfortable and prepared for a multitude of emergency situations while diving. My first dive after my SSI certification was a night dive with the manta rays on the Big Island. I felt totally prepared and comfortable during that dive, all thanks to Jordan and his training. I am very thankful that I chose Hawaiian Diving Adventures for my SSI training and I highly recommend them for anymore who is interested in learning to dive.
