Further along Kalanianaole Highway is the Makapuu Lighthouse hiking trail. This easy route with its moderate incline to the 647-ft. summit is a popular spot during whale season between December and April. This is a definite photo opportunity even when humpbacks aren’t spouting offshore. If you’re really ambitious, tackle a pre-sunrise hike to the top so you can grab a glorious photo of the sunrise.

This is a favorite local/visitor hike. It isn't too long and good for people worried about a dirt trail, it is all concrete path and a beautiful walk up the mountain. Great views. No facilities so take water etc.

Completely paved with a gentle incline, this trail is accessible for almost anyone. It's quite wide as well making it wheelchair accessible. Can get very very windy.

Beautiful hike, this hike is for everyone, this road is paved from beginning to end. Easy to park and not fee to see or use. Amazing view of the ocean, the lighthouse is nearby, but it close off to touch.

This is an easy wide paved path with expansive views from all sides. It's a touch steep in places so you'll feel like you earned it a little but it's manageable for anyone. Luckily there are also lots of little outcroppings off the path to...More

This hike is well worth your time. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. No protection from the sun and a steep hike. The trail is great for strollers or scooters, but you can't get to the very top view point if...More

Get there early or go late in the afternoon, it is very hot during mid day. The walk is a gradual up hill climb. Beautiful views of the cliffs and ocean.

Veer off the beaten path and go check out the blow hole and tidal pools. It makes for a really exciting hike!

Yes, the trail from the parking lot to the light house viewing is paved; its uphill and not too steep and strollers should be quite possible.

All free, but parking is tight because of the popularity of the trail with locals and tourists. Go early...best time of the day.
