SCAM!!! If I could give zero stars, I would. I paid over $800 for my family and I to attend what we thought was a "Luau". It could be better described as a high school fundraiser organized by 14 and 15 year olds.
The food was horrible! The chicken was pre-cooked and then microwaved which made it dry, the fried shrimp and veggie fritter were soggy, and they presented it on paper plates with wooden utensils. You couldn't even get a soda. There was an open bar but my family and I don't drink.
The main event included 3 talented yet amateur dancers who must have been brought there from a local dance academy. No offense to them, but for $15 shy of $200, that's a straight ripoff!
The audio equipment was garbled and full of static, the music skipped on several of the selected songs and they ended the event almost an hour early. We immediately asked for a refund. A man called us back the next day but he couldn't seem to make up his mind regarding whether or not he was the event organizer, choreographer, manager, general manager or owner... but at the end of the day none of those matter, because he is a scam artist PERIOD. Please do not be a victim of this terrible experience.

Aloha, Thank you for joining us in the early months of when we first started the luau and I truly apologize about your experience. We took your feedback into consideration and have made many changes since you attended. We have changed the entire cast and brought in an award winning production. We also changed the entire menu and now serve our food from chafer warmers straight onto guests plate. If you ever visit the Oahu again you can attend our luau as a complimentary gift from us as a thank you for supporting our luau in the early days. We hope we can make it up to you and give you the best experience you truly deserve. Mahalo!

Please be advised that this is not a private party and is held in the middle of a shopping centre, my advice would be to get yourself a meal and a drink and watch the show for free from the balcony above as many others did which is unfair considering the price, the food is basic buffet food & the 3 cocktails probably equal one normal cocktail as the plastic glasses are really small and they get weaker as the show goes on.

I have never given a negative review before but believe it is necessary on this occasion, during the show you are called family & cousins but when you complain you are no one as feedback is not listened too.

The show is a good show but I went upstairs afterwards and you will get a great view from up there especially of the fire show, one other watch out is the distance you have to go to get to the toilet, my friend missed a good bit of the show as he had to go to the toilet twice

Very disappointed. Everyone was nice, the view was beautiful but there were only 3 very young girls dancing and no male dancers and costumes like the pictures. The food tasted like it had been made days before and the tempura shrimp and vegetables were soggy along with everything else. Bless these people for trying though, it can’t be easy during a pandemic. But also there was no parking, no valet and parking was so hard. For almost $200/ticket plus the cost of drinks (water was free) everyone couldn’t wait until it was over, and a luau shouldn’t be like that. The speakers kept going out too. Very nice staff though.

Very intimate setting. This has to be the classiest luau in Waikiki where the team is personal. The drinks were tasty and the food was great. Shrimp and vegetable tempura were my fav. You dance, laugh, learn in an interactive environment. Thank you for the experience

In international marketplace (mall). Nice to see because we didnt know it was there.
Performers were excellent, authentic, and very cordial. However, Drinks were weak and food (though quantity was good) taste was mediocre and long lines for food and especially drinks. It was close to where we were staying. Pricey but...I think thats the going rate. Mahalo for a nice evening !

I decided to go to a luau that was close to my hotel. This “luau” is in the middle of a mall courtyard! We were seated on folding chairs at folding tables. I paid $130 for a plate of food and one drink and the show. Hot tip: go have a nice dinner and come back to watch the show FOR FREE from the second level of the mall. The final 30 minutes of the show is all you really want to see. You will have a better view than I did!!

We had scheduled another luau for our last night on the Northern Shore. Unfortunately, early Friday morning we received notice our luau was cancelled due to heavy rains the night before. The luau was a big deal to our three grandchildren. Fortunately, Queens Waikiki Luau was able to accommodate our family of 8 at our own table in the Middle Section for the 5:00pm Saturday luau. This even allowed our daughter to join us before her 10:00pm flight. As concerned as we were it would not be as good, we were thoroughly pleased with the evening. This is a little smaller venue which made everything more intimate. The performers were fantastic, and the evening could not have been better. Thank you to the entire team!!!

The food was absolutely amazing. The cabbage and shredded Pork. OMG. The show similar to the others we have seen. Before you knew it, you forgot your were in the center of the market place and taken to a beach front. The setting and music as awesome. The interactive activities at the start was fun. The fire dancing was amazing as well. All in all, a wonderful experience. We will return. The convenience of not having to drive 30-45 minutes or an hour to see a show was a fair swap for the same experience. Give it a try. The food is worth it.

Thank you for sharing your review of the Queens Luau! I'm so glad to hear that you found the food to be absolutely amazing, especially the cabbage and shredded pork. It's great to know that the show was similar to others you've seen, but still managed to transport you to a beach front and provide a wonderful experience. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the setting, music, and interactive activities at the start, as well as the amazing fire dancing. It's wonderful to hear that you had such a positive experience and that you will be returning in the future. I'm also happy to know that the convenience of not having to drive 30-45 minutes or an hour to see a show was a fair swap for the same experience. Thank you for recommending the luau and emphasizing that the food is worth it. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, and I hope that you have another fantastic experience at the Queens Luau when you return!

The Queens Waikiki Luau website makes claims like "most authentic luau in Oahu," and "highest rated show in Waikiki," but these statements are outright lies. The videos and information on the website cleverly conceal the fact that the show is literally in the *middle of a shopping mall* during a high-traffic period and in an area that is NOT closed off to non-paying visitors, so anyone can watch the show that you paid $500 for, for FREE. You feel like you're part of an exhibit as dozens of shoppers watch you from the walkway above the courtyard.

The website also shows performers *in costume* serving food and running activities, but NONE of the activities were happening when we arrived at 5pm, and instead of costumed performers, we had disengaged employees in polos and sneakers slopping bland, watery food onto paper plates. The mai tais were like syrup (overly sweet and not a hint of alcohol) served premixed from a plastic jug, and there were plastic trash cans and Home Depot buckets strewn around the event area. We paid extra for front-row seating but the plastic tables and chairs were set up so that only two folks per table would actually get a front-row experience.

We asked to speak to whoever was in charge, but the employees on site didn't have anyone to direct us to. It was a disorganized mess. We have now called Queens Waikiki Luau no less than 7 times asking to speak to the owner or manager to give them an opportunity to make this right, but they refuse to even return our calls.

Since you have expressed your concerns in an escalated way, allow us to provide you a more detailed response to your concerns expressed in your email. 1) 'blatant and false and misleading claims made on your website'. We have again reviewed our website and believe there is nothing on our website that is false or misleading. It would be helpful if you could provide us a detailed understanding of this so we may either correct or clarify our marketing. 2) 'makes claims like 'most authentic luau in Oahu' and 'highest rated show in Waikiki'. According to Google review, we are the highest rated luau in Waikiki with a 4.6 star rating (at the time your first email complaint was sent to us). The Royal Hawaiian Hotel luau has 4.3 stars, the Hale Koa luau has 4.5 stars, Rock-a-hula has 4.4 stars and the Hilton Hawaiian Village luau has 3.5 stars. This is the complete list of luaus in Waikiki. 3) 'videos and information on the website cleverly conceal the fact that show is literally in the middle of a shopping mall' and 'NOT closed off to non-paying visitors so anyone can watch the show'. Our website and other social media platforms properly advertises and discloses that we are in the International Market Place using texts, images and videos. We have made several attempts in working with our landlord to exclude the many on-lookers on the second floor. But since this is a public venue and out of our control as to what we can do as tenants to prohibit these on-lookers. Our landlord has not provided us with any reasonable alternative to prohibit or ameliorate this issue. We have offered several suggestions without success. But for many of our customers, they are not overly bothered by these on-lookers who are standing the entire time from a distant perspective. The landlord, however, has provided us the accommodation to shut-down the six lounge chairs on the second floor with a good view of the luau. So we are vigilant in ensuring that those seats are not occupied since that section can be roped off during our performance. But even if it is properly roped off, these on-lookers often times penetrate this area and we are always on guard to ensure it is NOT occupied. It is a constant problem but we do our best. It is unfortunate that you were so bothered that others could distantly view the Polynesian entertainment from a public area for no charge, but we have done everything in our capability to mitigate this matter with our landlord. 4) 'website also show performers in costume serving food and running activities, but NONE of the activities were happening when we arrived at 5:00 pm and instead of costumed performers, we had disengaged employees in polos and sneakers slopping bland, watery food onto paper plates. Our website states that the doors open/cultural activities begin at 5pm which is correctly advertised. You may have not noticed at the time, but upon entrance you were greeted with a Polynesian dancer and also male and female dancers were both present in the venue at their designated cultural activity stations in Polynesian costumes. It seems you may have only been focused on our staff members (who are not entertainers) who are dressed in comfortable polo shirts since they work very hard in setting up the venue with tables, chairs, bar, supplies, etc. with also clean-up responsibilities. With respect to the paper plates, we do NOT use paper plates but use a much higher end and durable palm leaf plates, used by many upscale luaus. Since I have reached my response limit on this review, please see the rest of our response which was sent to your email...

If I could give zero stars I would. This luau was such a disappointment. 1st let me start off by saying I paid 708.00 for this luau. It was birthday and I wanted to treat my friends to a luau dinner. I was so embarrassed. 🤦🏾‍♀️ 2nd disappointment it’s literally in the middle of the mall, anybody can see the show. 3rd disappointment what they call food 🤢🤮🥴
Skip the ticket and just stand in the mall to see the show. Trust me you don’t want to pay $137 per person to eat here. Just go to a five star restaurant, hell Mcdonalds is better than this place.

Save yourself the disappoint & money and go to a real luau.

I hope my response will clear up some confusion and concerns with your experience. Regarding the location, the land which our luau is hosted is one of the most historical locations on Oahu. It was owned by King William Charles Lunalilo, the first elected king in Hawaiian history, who gifted the land to Queen Emma, who is responsible for opening the Queens Medical Center. The luau is hosted in the Queen’s Garden, which honors the healing spirit of the Queen, her hospital and her mission to always act with generosity and kindness toward others. We understand at first glance it appears our luau is hosted in a mall, but we are actually located in the Queens Garden surrounded by beautiful coconut trees and plants. However, our location is correctly advertised on our website and across all online platforms through text, images, videos as being located in the International Market Place so I hope this addresses your concern and anyone who is reading about the location of the luau site. I also want to address the complete value of what you get with the luau price for the readers who are not familiar with what a luau is. The price you pay for reflects the luau experience as a whole which include the interactive cultural activities, dinner, and Polynesian show. Here’s the PROS about attending Queens Waikiki Luau vs others luaus: 1. Conveniently located in Waikiki, which means you can just walk to our luau site instead of getting on a bus or driving an hour to the other side of the island and driving another hour back to other luaus. 2. Small intimate setting, which means one-on-one interactions with our performers. To put in perspective, we only have about 100 person capacity vs other luaus which have more than 600 person capacity. This means you will feel like family at our luau versus feeling like cattle being herded at other luaus. 3. Best value-All luaus have the exact same amenities which is the cultural activities, dinner, and show. We offer all those things with the additional benefit of intimate participation, convenient location, and at the most affordable prices. Other luaus are double the price. This is why Queens Waikiki Luau is one of the highest rated luaus on Oahu!
