Lighthouse view.

This lighthouse can be best spotted from being up above on the hiking trail. The lighthouse is on the point facing the ocean just below the top viewpoint on the trail. The trail itself is paved but quite steep going uphill to the viewpoints near the top. It is also quite exposed to the elements so the trade winds increase as you go up. Also there is no shade here so go early in the day to avoid the heat.

Worth the walk if you are driving by

I would not go out of my way for this one, but we were driving by and I figured why not check it out? The path is nice- fully paved. All uphill for about 1.3miles and then all down hill. You don't really get close to the lighthouse, but the view from the top is very lovely. If you have an hour, I would check it out.

Makapuu Lighthouse

We stoped at Makapuu Beach Park, you can see the lighthouse from there. Its small and up on the cliff, but you can see the top of it.

Beautiful View

Although we couldn't see the lighthouse because it's on the other side of the hill from the viewing are and parking lot, the views were stunning.

You can see a gorgeous small beach from the lookout and some small islands.

A nice stop along the way if you want to stretch your legs.
