We were deciding between hiking Koko Crater and Diamond Head. We chose Koko Crater because the locals (recommended by a cashier at a convenience store and a Lyft driver). It was a good workout with a lot of steps, but the view up there is very rewarding. It took us about 35 minutes to hike up with a few short... More

This was an amazing endurance hike. If you choose to take the railroad ties up the side of the crater be warned that it is quite the workout. You will need a couple bottles of water and do not go in the middle of the day. Morning is better. The higher you climb the steeper the grade is and there... More

I'm up for a challenge. This was certainly one of them! I'm so out of shape but I had to do it. So glad I did. It's not easy but we'll worth it. Be sure to take water, I didn't because I didn't want to carry anything. I should have. It will take a while depending how in shape you... More

If you dare try this -you are the bomb . You are instantly in no better shape. This mountaintop is well worth the grueling 30-50 minute sweating enjoyment filled trip. The cost is only pure sweat and strength. A must if you are a trail climbing buff. I made it in 35 minutes . I challenge you to beat my... More

One of the most popular landmarks on Oahu's south shore. Lots of people hiking on these trails during sunrise to reach the lookout point for a stunning and mindboggling view of rising sun and Ocean spreading terrific hues all over the sky.. remarkable for photography. Enjoy hiking here and after that get to Sandy’s beach to relax. Worth the hike!!

The hike is pretty brutal... 1,000 steps on uneven terrain that used to be railroad track, a small portion has a bridge with no ground underneath, and add some hot sun its quite intense. BUT when you get up to the top and see the amazing view it is totally worth it.

Of course we shouldn't have done this at noon with 30 degrees. Nevertheless the hike was very hard and it took us 2 hours to get to the top, resting frequently. The way down took 30 minutes. Be sure to bring a lot of water, our half a liter per person was NOT sufficient. We stopped after 25%, considering to... More

The walk up is a daunting as you hike over a disused narrow gauge railroad track that requires a bit of agility and is very steep. The trail is crowded so if you are fast, you will need to be patient with those ahead of you on the way up and down. The view at the top is definitely worth... More

Worst 45 minutes of my life - but the views were worth it! If you are staying in Waikiki, you can get on the number 23 bus. It lets you off by a highschool which you walk past (follow the kids if you are going early) then you take a right up and around to the Koko Head Park. Easy... More

Beautiful view, definitely worth the effort! Path is a beaten trail and old railroad ties up a very steep grade. I would say not for small children, bad knees, or faint-hearted. Plenty of free parking. No fees for the trail. No water/bathrooms on the trail/top. I do believe I might have seen a port-a-potty at the bottom by the ball... More
