Wonderful, relaxing experience of the entire island!

Uncle Eddie is the best! He takes his time and does not rush, while being very organized and tactical with how we navigated each spot. I was a single tour rider on the circle island tour with the Byodo-in Temple and Dole Plantation (Hilights). I highly recommend doing this tour on “Hawaii Time” because although you don’t need a lot of time to see all the stops, you are more relaxed (not rushed) about being places and it is helpful if the other tourists work well together in the same way. Most people on the tour were in and out of the spots at the same time anyways. In reality, it’s the other tourists that can make or break the experience. I think I was very lucky to have such a great group with so many different personalities, willing to work together and be open to having a great time!
I will be recommending this to anyone I know who wants to see the most sought after points of interest but do not need to spend the whole day in one place. It was my first tour being here and I know nothing will compare to this. I saw the whole island in one day and feel like I did not miss out! Take the concerns of other reviewers with a grain of salt and simply enjoy. Set no expectations and go with the flow. That’s what vacation is all about! Everything was amazing! Thank you so much Uncle Eddie for sharing some of your lifestyle with us! And thank you for being such a great driver! Mahalo!

Hidden Gems of Hawaii with Byodo In and Turtle Spotting

We booked this thru the concierge at our hotel who recommended this as a smaller tour bus. That worked out well although I think I may have got it a bit cheaper by booking direct. The bus held about 20 passengers and was full. It wasn’t as fancy as a big coach but the air con worked and you could see clearly from the big windows - so what more would you want?

Our tour guide was Art and he was fantastic. He spoke non-stop from pick up at 7.15am til drop off around 3.30pm. And it was all great information interspersed with funny comments. He was very polished and clearly knew his stuff. He made time to speak to everyone at the various stops along the way. He also kept us on schedule with a gentle reminder about timing when one of the party was late back.

It’s a full day and you stop at the blowhole, the temple and various beaches on the North Shore, as well as a lunch stop, and stops for fruit, macadamia nuts and at the Dole Plantation (pineapples). The longest stop was at Dole (40 mins) and I would have been happier with longer stops elsewhere and shorter here but I know that the tour buses are only allowed a short time at certain places so that’s maybe why it works out this way.

I would highly recommend this tour company and Art alone is worth 5 stars plus. A really enjoyable day.

So worth it!

My husband and I came in January which is Hawaii’s off season and I highly recommend doing the same thing! Our tour was absolutely great! Jay was our tour guide and let me just say he is so welcoming, enthusiastic, attentive, hilarious (if you don’t like dad jokes then rethink your life choices), and knowledgeable. This was probably the most entertaining history lesson I’ve ever received. Now if you are booking this to see turtles don’t expect to see them in their “winter” time because the waves are too intense for them to beach. Our stay landed the same time as pipeline so seeing those massive waves was just as incredible. Jay was literally so awesome, I would not hesitate to try and book another tour and ask for him. Everywhere we got to go was absolutely beautiful so overall highly recommend. Be sure to pack light! All you need is cash, water bottle with secure lid, comfy shoes, camera, and you’re good. The lunch spot we went to was absolutely delicious so be sure to be hungry.

They lie. Matt told me there is only one swim with the sharks in a cage tour on the Island of Oahu. He made me take a 7am time slot, show up time 6:30am. I had to get all the way to Haleiwa from downtown Honolulu. It was an hour. No fun getting up at 5am on vacation. When I arrived at the dock, I saw several shark tours boats.

Also, don't waste your time doing their time share sales pitch. They promise a 7 night hotel stay, but they charge you $40 per night before you even start looking for a decent hotel.

Anything you buy from Go Hawaii Tours, you can buy on your own online.

Don't waste your time or $.

We went on a Circle tour that included turtle spotting and the Byodo Temple. This was NOT worth our time or money. First we had to waste time waiting for riders who seriously could not follow a timeline. Second, the tour took us from one tourist trap to another, with little information about any of them. We only had 10 to 20 minutes at any stop. Lunch was a hole-in-the-wall restaurant that cost us 2x the menu prices. The entire trip felt like a rip off. We wasted a day in Hawaii.

Our tour guide, Eddie, was extremely personable and very knowledgeable. He was able to engage everyone on the tour (all 24 of us) in the local attractions and rituals. He taught all of us the true meaning of Aloha and Ohana. I personally learned many things about Hawaiian culture and have an increased respect for the Islands and the people. Eddie made the tour of Oahu a genuine pleasure and because of him, it is only a matter of when, not if, we return to Hawaii to learn more about this wonderful land. The ovation we all gave Eddie at the end of the tour was genuinely heartfelt by all. Thanks again for a fantastic day Eddie. We appreciate that you called us Ohana and we truly feel the same about you,

Worth the money!

We took the Hidden Gems with the Byoto Temple option.
John our guide was informative, funny and very knowledgeable. He handled the diverse makeup of our group from babies to senior Citizens making sure everyone was included.Our driver Mitchell ,managed the traffic and the rain
We got to see beautiful scenery , and even saw turtles.

Circle Island Tour with Byodo-In Temple

From the point of booking to the point of drop off, we had a wonderful experience with Go Tours Hawaii. The day we had originally booked our tour turned out to be raining, and when we called to ask about whether the tour would be as worthwhile a few days before, they were honest and told us to "manage our expectations" but graciously allowed us to reschedule for a few days later instead, which turned out to be a great idea.

We were picked up by Jay who is all around a wonderful person: safe driver, hilarious storyteller, patient with some "rowdier" or more demanding clients, talented photographer! I appreciated how he pointed out so many details and shared his own experiences around the island. He also made sure to teach us how to pronounce a ton of the Hawaiian words so that we'd know how to get around when we were on our own for the rest of our time on the island.

Our tour with Jay was my family's highlight of the trip. All 9 of us got something out of it, even those in my family who don't speak English really enjoyed it.

Hidden Gems of Oahu with Byodo-In Temple.
Rocky was an extraordinary storyteller with amazingly knowledge. We really enjoyed the day with him, and the scenery. My favourite was the Byodo-In temple. I use a wheelchair for distance only and he popped it in the back. We didn't realise coaches could not Park at the beaches at present so there was a lack of ability to stop and look..instead this time was spent in traffic due to roadworks. Neither of which is the fault of the tour company. We felt safe and comfortable. The Shrimp lunch spot was delicious and the whole trip ran very smoothly in terms of Rockys instructions and management. The first half of the day is a little bit 'come and buy' but it's okay if it's only early in your holiday as it gives you a feel for where you'd like to go back to and also to purchase.

Booking in the office in Waikiki was weird as the agent Braden was great and very helpful, but there was a Timeshare salesperson trying to give discounts in exchange for Hilton hotel tours. They told us about the discount before telling us of the salespitch we'd need to attend. This always leaves us feeling disappointed and of course we declined. But overall we were happy (and we are fairly discerning travellers!)

Hidden Gems of Oahu bus tour

Really enjoyed the professionalism yet down to earth attitude of our tour host, Rockyb he was so knowledgeable and eager to share the beauty of this island. He was so patient, humble and kind to everyone and really taught us to be the same... If we can only keep that up after we get off the island! He went out of his way to give us so much information about the different interesting stops on the tour, and we learned so much. His shared his own personality and experiences on the island etc that made it so worth the time and cost of this tour. Hope you end up with Rocky if you take the Hidden Gems tour of Oahu!
