No point for this place to be open at 10:00 when you have to wait until 11:00 for a tour. Yes they have a small expensive gift shop so that takes 5 minutes. You CAN NOT do a self guided tour of the inside of...More

In the 1820's missionaries arrived in Hawaii to pass on Christian teachings because it would benefit the locals. The Hawaiians were open to the introduction because the kapu system had been stopped by Liholiho. I think the statement that "after their service the missionaries often...More

Visiting this historic site is a must for anyone interested in Hawaiian history. The docent is extremely knowledgable and shares many historic tidbits-bits not found in history books. They also have a great gift shop.

To get here, I took bus no 2 from Kuhio Avenue and got off at the corner of S. Beretania and Alapai Streets. It wasn’t that easy to find from the bus stop and I had to ask passers-by for directions. But even that was...More

The most disjointed ramble by a "guide" I have ever endured. People left the "tour" long before it was anywhere near finished.

building tour with a superb staff. Local ceramic dishes abound in the gift shop along with a selection of local history books. The tour is guided.

More building works are underway to ensure this important part of Hawaii's history is comprehensive. The tours are good but we had already done one so we just wandered through the houses remembering the details. The shop has some very interesting books on sale.
