A really nice way to exercise. This trek is better done in the morning or later in the afternoon when the sun is not too hot. The views are great!

Be prepared and have water with you. the hike is like hiking up 34 floors of stairs. But when you get to the top the REWARD is worth it. The View is breath taking.

The view from the top is worth the work to get there! We walked from our hotel so it was a big hike for us - but we stumbled across a great farmers market just before going through the tunnel. Lots of fruits and veggies....More

The hike is not too bad, but am cautious to use the word easy as it depends on the individual. The heat definitely adds a challenging element so recommend heeding the advice to go early, wear sunscreen and a hat and take water. With that...More

The hike is hot and grueling, but when you get to the top it's amazing to see the beauty around you. And it's also cool to be able to say you stood in the crater of a volcano!

A long hike up the mountain but do-able. Even semi fit people can do this trip without too much trouble. Be sure to take hat and sunscreen and plenty of water. The only amenities and refreshments are at the start near the entrance to the...More

Get there early, like when they open because parking is very limited. If you don't get a place to park you have to park at the bottom of Diamond Head so that means extra walking uphill. Of course wear tennis shoes and bring lots of...More

Spectacular views. The hike wasn't hard. My kids, even my 7 year old enjoyed the hike. Safe trail. Stairs at the top. We went in the morning and there was a nice breeze. Also bring money for excellent shave ice or a smoothie at the...More

This is something you absolutely shouldn't skip. The view at the top is breath-taking and something you need to see if you're on Oahu. However, be prepared. The parking lot does fill up early, so if you're not there by 9, wait and go later...More

Hi Kristy It's exactly 3kms from the Moana Surfrider hotel to the entrance of Diamond Head. It takes only about 15-20mins of brisk walking. It's a nice walk. Otherwise, there is one of those Connection Trolley buses you can... More

Check the local weather, then back up your arrival time by at least an hour due to traffic.

Hi, It is US$1 per person or $5 per car to enter the park. Our taxi driver stopped just before the entrance so we could pay per person. Enjoy! dlnr.hawaii.gov/dsp/parks/oahu/diamond-head-state-monument/
