The pilot was an excellent guide who made sure we enjoyed the trip as much as we could, taking into account the windy conditions and the slightly unsettling doors-off experience for my wife (hint: do ask to put a door on if you are not sure). A helicopter ride had been on our bucket list for a while, but the Oahu Experience around Hawaii's island and the close-up with the Sacred Waterfalls certainly made it an unforgettable experience.
Note that the small helicopter makes it very personal and you can easily look out of both sides...
This was certainly the best thing we could have done on our last day in Hawaii, and I'm still smiling back here in the UK...

Dan is an amazing pilot. He explained everything we were seeing and set views up perfectly for taking breathtaking photos. When we flew there were some clouds and light drizzle. Before taking off he checked the weather forecast to ensure it was safe for us to fly. Our 3 teenagers were on the flight and he treated them like precious cargo. We always felt safe while in his care. The lady in the office (I did not catch her name) was extremely friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend Mauna Loa to anyone and look forward to flying with them again . The whole experience was absolutely amazing.

I was stationed on Oahu for 3.5 years and thought I knew the island pretty well as I’ve hiked all over. However, after this flight I realized there was so much I missed out on!
For anyone looking for the next experience for a private flight that won’t break the back, don’t look any further. I extensively researched the other companies on Oahu, and was a little worried about flying in the R44, which is small. However, those concerns quickly went away as it actually works in your favor! The pilot was amazing, and being a small helicopter, my wife and I were guaranteed window seats, where as other companies that may not be the case and you could possibly end up flying with other people. With Mauna Loa you’re guaranteed a private flight that doesn’t break the bank!
For anyone visiting the Hawaiian islands, I can’t recommend Mauna Loa enough. Our pilot was amazing, and the view were mind blowing. You can stop searching around if you’re on the fence about companies - just book Mauna Loa now! Also get those doors off - that enhances the experience even more!

I made a reservation for a $380/person VIP tour of Oahu for two of us on 13NOV22 at 0800 hours. It was a great off-door helicopter experience overall, and the pilot was very friendly; however, I felt underserved by the tour because the actual flight did not involve the “loop rides” at each site which was described as a key difference between the magnum PI tour ($359/person) and VIP tour ($380/person). So I ended up getting a PI experience for the price of a VIP experience. We brought it up to the pilot during the flight, but we were told that we are not doing the loops because of time constraint. It was a bit unfair to us because we showed up at 0720 for pre-flight check-in which is 10 minutes earlier than 0730 as we were told. It is what it is at this point, but please ensure that the actual flight reflects what is described on your website & physical advertisement boards at your office. It would have made the entire experience even better. Thanks! :)

we Paid $40 for the pictures and video of our helicopter ride. Our ride was at 1:00PM but they sent me the picture at sunset time, and the video wasn’t right too I can tell because of the different color of the helicopter we had. I email them and ask about this and didn’t hear anything back from them. Thought I just lost $40 for nothing.

We have checked the server that contains the images and video We sent you 14 photos and 5 videos including the stock photos and video that we always send customers as a memento.. Please can you check your spam folder again and let us know if you cannot locate them. As precaution we have sent them all again to you .
You should have both personal pictures and video and stock {souvenir} albums to remind you of the locations you visited on your tour.
Please call us if you have issues playing the video and we will find other ways to transmit the data

Incredible tour!! Our pilot was great as she was very knowledgeable about every part of the island and she made sure that each person in the helicopter was able to see every part of the island and answered every question that we asked. She circled a number of areas just to be sure we each got to see an area and got any pictures that we wanted. Highly recommend to others as this tour is well worth the price.

This was the first time we had been on a helicopter before. Stefan made sure we were doing ok throughout the tour and had tons of information about the island of Oahu. The tour was not only beautiful, but informative. Stefan spotted whales and turtles out in the ocean and would circle back just so we both saw them. I would highly recommend this tour and this company! Thank you Mauna Loa Helicopter Tours! We will definitely do this again!

I booked this charter for my boyfriend’s birthday, and we were delighted by the ability to see 3 humpback whales!!! Our pilot, Tyler, was very knowledgeable and made sure s feel safe, was a great pilot and looped around so we could see them better. We did doors off - which I would recommend. Tie your hair back for sure! It was gorgeous and exhilarating for sure and we got to see the summit of the mountain as well as Captain Cook area which we had hiked and snorkeled a few days earlier. I highly recommend this company and this experience. 🤙🏼

I took my partner for a birthday flight. He had never flown before. Our pilot, Daniel, was awesome! He pointed out sights around the island, gave brief history lessons (he said we could opt out of the narration at any time), and just had a great attitude. We took great pictures of freakishly empty beaches. Seriously, if you're a local that likes photography - or if you're a visitor that has completed their quarantine - take advantage while there are still clean, unclouded waters and empty beaches to photograph...and get a very different perspective of the 'Aina.

Flight was cancelled due to strong winds. They tried to reschedule for a different day (Ivy was very apologetic) but the winds persisted for 2 more days. After which, I was told there was a sister company on the Island of Kona(we were going there next) but they were in able to accommodate us 😣 you'd think they might try a little harder since we were cancelled on more than once. I did receive a full refund but I was highly disappointed asvtjis was supposed to be the highlight of our trip.

Hi - we understand its disappointing to not be able to do a tour. We do... please understand that we WANT to fly . ITs what we do - but we will not put you at risk. As we stated below "We make no apologies for Cancellation of tours due to weather or unsafe conditions. We understand that it can be inconvenient - and we always do our best to accommodate rebooking . Safety is the #1 priority for our company. " Giving us a 2 star review is kind of unfair .... but it is what it is. Aloha !

Hey Daniel,
I'm not sure if that was a typo on the DO meaning DID. I do not give any tours I was a tourist so with that said the tour I did on Oahu was not a tour over a volcano even tho there is a volcano on Oahu LEAHi.
My tour went over the island and coast and sacred hills and over the city and back. Great tour but no volcano on this. I did not see a volcano offering from this company too but you will have to double check.
