we had a lovely wine tasting experience at the Southwest Wine Center in Clarksdale, Arizona. The students are learning to make and market wines and have a beautiful tasting room looking out over the vineyards and the natural beauty of the high desert. the wines were actually pretty good and it is great to see a new industry being born in the desert.…

I have been involved with the Southwest Wine Center when it was an idea and the building housed the racquetball courts for Yavapai College. I planted vines as the vineyards were just getting planted and I am proud to say that the vines have grown along with the program! We recently went to a wine dinner and all of the wines were made by students in the program and they are REALLY good! The tasting room is an experience with many wines to try. The building is minimalist and functional with the vineyards surrounding the site. Check out the Founders Wall. Go for a tour and tasting. Impressive level of commitment from the College and the community.…

We were fortunate to have another winery suggest we visit the Southwest Wine Center at Yavapai College. We arrived about an hour before closing and were greeted by the nicest gentleman who not only guided us through a couple of tastings (red and white) but also gave us a tour of the winery. The wines were very good and we loved learning about the Viticulture and Enology coursework at the college. If I lived closer I would certainly consider taking this coursework, it appears to be an incredible experience. Loved everything about our tasting and tour - highly recommended!!!…

Wow are we lucky to have the Southwest Wine Center at Yavapai College! Not only do they have award winning, yummy wines, the wine is made by the students and many made from the vineyard right there. There is a full 2 year program to learn all the basics about producing wine. They learn everything from planting the vineyard to harvesting to producing to working a tasting room. They have some exceptional wines, beautiful views of the vineyard, the mountains, red rocks of Sedona and a very comfortable tasting area. It's a bit of a unknown to many, even locals, so usually not crowded, at not yet that is. :)…

The Southwest Wine Center is operated as part of the Yavapai College program in Viticulture and Enology. The wines are very good to excellent and all produced by college students. The faculty and students staff the tasting room and provide an academic perspective on Arizona wine and the Arizona wine industry. If you like wine then this is a VERY enjoyable place to spend a few hours.…
