We didn’t know what to expect from this museum and did not have enough time to spend there. You could easily spend 3 hours or more there. It’s a huge collection of copper artifacts, some hundreds of years old, and beautifully displayed in the former Clarkdale High School which was renovated to become the Arizona Copper Art Museum. Each room of the former school houses a display of different themes. We learned a lot about copper, from what it is to how it’s mined to how it’s used through out the world. A lot of information here!! Very well done, and at a reasonable entrance fee, especially considering the size of the collection.

We stumbled across this museum while headed toward a ride on the Verde Canyon Railroad. What a delightful little gem! The copper museum is in an old high school and has artifacts made of copper from all over the world. I found it very interesting. We only spent and hour, but had a train to catch.

What a great place to view history of Arizona and the copper industry. Drake was a wonderful host that took us around this old high school building and explained the history of Clarkdale and the Clark family. I would recommend this tour to all.

One of the best museums I’ve ever been to. So much history of the area and copper mining. Copper pieces from all over the world from many different time periods very beautifully displayed! So impressed with the attention to detail. I have always loved copper but after touring this museum I am now starting my own copper collection.

We had a rainy day in Sedona and found this on Trip Advisor as something near by to visit. We were not disappointed! Only about 30 minutes from Village of Oak Creek. The museum is in the old school. You learn a ton about the area, copper mining and the school. The cooper on display is amazing, some of the candy molds they had were incredibly intricate. The gentleman staffing the museum was knowledgeable and very friend,y. It was a great way to spend a few hours. (and you drive back through Cottonwood with wine tasting rooms) Definitely put the museum on your visit list!

We decided to stay in Clarkdale to beat the noise and crowds and this museum was down the street. So well organized and had some really great examples. I did not feel like I was seeing the same thing over and over. Just the right amount of science to make it all understandable and interesting. Great stories along the way.

Hi and thanks for your review. We are glad that you found the museum and that it was interesting. The collections on display include over 6500 artifacts, of which 1000+ date to the 1500-1700's. Clarkdale is Arizona's first model community and a former company town, built in 1912 and owned by "America's Copper King", Senator William A. Clark. It is the perfect location for a museum of copper as Clarkdale is filled with wonderful example of architecture, all reminiscent of our copper history. Thanks again.

Really neat place to wander around for a couple hours. We enjoyed learning about the history of Clarkdale and Jerome. Also how the copper mines made a few select people very wealthy! The museum is housed in the old high school so the artifacts are divided into separate rooms. We enjoyed the Trench Art and the Kitchen the most. We also learned a lot about metals!

This museum is a must-see if you are in Clarkdale; if you are in to history, mining or metals you must make sure you drive to Clarkdale to see this museum!. The structure is a former public school in Clarkdale. We went here prior to going on the railroad tour and we were very glad we did. I learned a lot and was extremely impressed at the quality of the contents and how it was displayed. Being from the Eastern United States, I was not aware of the copper mining activity in Arizona. The display items and their organization are impressive. It was also interesting to see the interior of the former school. Copper items everywhere!

Something to see while waiting for the train. Very interesting history of copper. They do charge $10 fee to enter 8 for seniors. I liked the room with shells from the wars and how they were decorated. Pots and pans room. So much to see there.

Had plenty of time to wander through the museum. Recognizing many things that have been part of life growing up. Learning about copper and a few other elements as to where they were found and how it changed the landscape as the need for metals increased. The museum is still growing so a few displays are incomplete, another reason for a return visit! And it’s all in an old school which has it’s own fascinating history!
