    Gem of a museum
Highly recommend visit to this gem of a museum. The collection is extensive, and beautifully organized and displayed. We were lucky to chat a bit with the curator, and it was interesting to learn about the history and all of the hard work over many years to bring it to fruition. I was most entranced with the trench art part of the museum. The used brass artillery shell casings were so beautifully designed. I was amazed at the variety of the pieces also. A must see if you are in the area!!
Hi and thank you for your review! We are glad you enjoyed your visit, especially the trench art room. Those pieces were designed by soldiers in WW1 while they lived in the trenches, a really interesting piece of history that many are unaware of!

    Interesting small museum
We’re not museum people but my sister does a lot of work with copper so I decided to go so I can discuss it with her. I was surprised at how interesting I found it. It wasn’t a large museum but a perfect size for our interest. The man who was there to check you in was a very pleasant and nice guy. If you’re in the Clarksdale area, I would recommend stopping by. I think it would be a 45 minute to an hour stop.

    Amazing Arizona Copper Art Museum
If in the Flagstaff/Sedona area would highly recommend going to the AZ Copper Art Museum. It's off the beaten path, but is amazing. Located in a former high school the museum is filled with copper artifacts. The history of Clarksdale is very interesting and is near a now closed copper mine and smelting facility. One entire room is devoted to trench art, I've seen these pieces in other museums, but this is a large room floor to ceiling with examples. The other highlights are copper ceilings and an entire room devoted to beautiful copper kitchen ware. Very well curated and definitely worth a trip.

    Worth a visit
This museum surprised me with all its displays of copper and many rooms to go thru. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The man at the front desk was very nice, but obviously tired of being told he'd a look alike for the actor Anthony Hopkins! We spent about 45 minutes there before going on the Verde Valley train ride.

    Worthwhile
I truly enjoyed my tour of the Arizona Cooper Art Museum. There are a wide variety of objects on display. The accompanying explanations are clear and interesting. The museum attendant was knowledgeable and increased our appreciation by offering additional context. Of added interest is the fact that the museum is housed in a 1930's era school.

This place is AMAZING and will blow you away! The world of Copper is on full display, and you will never forget this place. One of the Best museums we have ever visited. The attention to detail is unmatch and if you are like us you will go back for a second look before you leave the area!

Little known gem of a museum
What a gem the copper museum is! We went on the recommendation of a friend and are very happy we did. Fascinating info about copper - history, uses, role in the development of this area, the Clark family and more. Housed in an old high school, there are rooms of copper items, 'museum morsels ' and science shown in a fascinating way. The gentleman at the desk was a wealth of information also. I highly recommend visiting if you are in the area.

Don't miss this unbelievable museum, however far you have to drive to see it.
Words can't describe our surprise and delight seeing this museum. This out of the way museum would be a hit in the largest city in the U.S. Thousands and thousands of curated pieces of worked copper, bronze and brass - the focus being copper. A family collection, labor of love, professionally displayed and lighted in a beautifully restored early 20th Century school building. The walk through the many rooms of the collection is overwhelming.

THE place to go if you manage to find a rainy day
When your Sedona visit has an all day rain forecast, where do you go? Arizona Copper Art Museum! (Though would be worth the visit even in better weather.) This was a spot not on our initial agenda, but glad we found it on the map and decided to explore. The history of copper, blended with useful and decorative copper pieces held our attention for a few hours. The employee that welcomed us was full of knowledge to share. Even the teens were fascinated by a number of pieces, especially the artillary art catching their eye.

I was headed from Sedona to Jerome and in a hurry but stopped at the museum. It is well done and deserved more than the half hour I gave it. The town's population declined precipitously
when the copper nines closed and has now grown to 4000. Museum, in a former school, is manned by volunteers. Interesting facts: Cyprus has lots of copper something I never learned while in Cyprus. When the Clarkdale school closed, students at were bused up the mountain to Jerome. Now Jerome has 400-500 folks, depending on who one talks to. Why would you bus kids up that winding narrow road rather than bus the Jerome kids down to Clarkdale, which has 10 times the population? Never figured that out. But the museum is great.

If you're in the Sedona area of Arizona and looking for things to do in the general vicinity besides hiking and viewing the magnificent scenery, consider a side trip up to Clarksdale to visit the Arizona Copper Museum. A wonderful little museum with several thousand articles made of copper, collected over a number of years and nicely displayed . I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the visit. The docent , who also is the one who collected the various items, is friendly and available to fill in the history and related information. If you decide to visit the nearby old mining town(Jerome) which is also a great rainy day activity, a stop at the nearby Copper Museum would make for a great excursion.

I wasn't sure what to expect so this was a nice surprise. The man at the desk where I paid the entry fee was very well versed in the history of the town, museum, and the man responsible for it all. I loved listening to his historical stories. Copper footprints on the floor lead you around the first floor to the well organized exhibits. Who knew there were so many uses for copper! Short videos are shows here and there that relate to the exhibits. Highly recommend this and will probably return! Grew up in Arizona and knew that copper was important to our state and one of our 5 c's, knew that Jerome was an old mining town, but this museum was a wonderful surprise.

What a great place to view history of Arizona and the copper industry. Drake was a wonderful host that took us around this old high school building and explained the history of Clarkdale and the Clark family. I would recommend this tour to all.

WOW. What an experience. We heard about this place while doing research on what to do in the area. It was an incredible experience walking through the museum. It is a self-guided tour, but the owner would check up on us and ask if we had any questions. There is so much information that is provided as you walk by all of the displays of the incredible collection of copper that they have been putting together for over 18 years. You could easily spend half of a day in here. In addition, they are constantly adding in new items all the time.

Hi and thank you very much for the review. The museum is sorta a off-the-radar type place so it does take a little to find us. We don't advertise but instead we add those dollars to our collection, making it a value to the people who visit. We currently have about 6500 artifacts on display and 1400+ that date to the 1500-1700's. An amazing accomplishment for a small town. Have a safe journey in the ...Copper State!!!!

This is worth your time, very large collection. You will learn about Copper history in the area & see items from around the world. Someone really knew how to set up & display the many beautiful items. They receive new items daily! We spent over 2 hours there & would go again.

One of the best museums I’ve ever been to. So much history of the area and copper mining. Copper pieces from all over the world from many different time periods very beautifully displayed! So impressed with the attention to detail. I have always loved copper but after touring this museum I am now starting my own copper collection.

We were staying in Jerome and just happened upon this fabulous museum when we went to breakfast at Violette's across the street. We learned so much about the history of copper and were amazed by room after room of beautiful copper objects. Definitely a great place to spend some time if you are tired of the touristy shops in Sedona or Jerome.
