Captain and crew were wonderful. It was our first time fishing and we really enjoyed it. Crew was also accommodating to few children on board. It was so nice to enjoy an outdoor activity safely during all the covid precautions. Hand sanitizer was available and social distancing was done effectively. While our fish were getting cleaned I observered the captain washing down the boat, where we sat and all the fishing rods. We will definitely use them again next time we visit newport. I Caught about 5 fish and took em home to enjoy :) highly recommend!

I took my granddaughter who just turned 13 out for the morning fishing trip on the good ship Narragansett. It was a fantastic three hours on the bay. The captain of the ship was extremely professional, safety oriented, and gave us a five minute introduction prior to boarding. Everything, I mean everything was taken care of from safety vests to Polls to bait, water and finally filleting the fish that were keepers and providing an iced bag to take it home. The first mate, Jeff, was extremely helpful and courteous. He was all over the ship taking care of everyone instantly. I highly recommend the two or three hour voyage in. Well worth the expense.

Your review is not only most appreciated but should prove helpful to others considering a Fish n' Tales morning fishing trip, particularly those with those"hard to please" teenagers.
As you described, its a breeze just hopping aboard with absolutely everything provided, both while fishing and then returning with your catch for your evening meal (filleting, ice, etc.).
Please join us again. If you have pictures, we'd love to see you and your granddaughter enjoying your experience!
All our best,
Fish n' Tales.

This was a great experience for me and my 10 year old son. The crew was very knowledgeable and friendly. The boat caught a lot of fish. My only issue was that my 7:30am trip was “overbooked” and they called me the evening before to let me know they had to switch it to the 11:30 trip. I will be coming back for a second visit!

Thank you for letting us know about your time fishing out in the Bay and your success in hauling 'em in. We apologize for the overbooking, but perhaps that allowed you to sleep in a bit? Looking forward to seeing you again.

bad customer service
manager Diana
my 11 year olds shrimp potatoes and sausage was ordered no spice, came out mild, she ate 2 shrimp gave the rest to her uncle, when I realized what was wrong she said her mouth hurt and she wanted to leave. cashier offered to wash the potatoes and sausage then reboil in just water to make the food warm. Really!!! asked for refund. I was refunded cost of potatoes and sausage but not the shrimp that got ate. really could not save a customer over $10 cost of shrimp. Doddies always makes her food right and watches her test it. lesson learned for me as well. everyone elses food was great, customer service terrible.

I took a trip to Rhode Island and wanted to get in a fishing trip with my son and heard many great things about Fish'n Tales Adventures and the FV/Northeastern. I booked a 7:30am, 3 hour trip and it was a great trip. The captain and the crew were knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. They were all around great! As for the fishing, we had a ton of action!!!! They put us on many fish and everyone that went fishing that day, came home with some fish. Many Black Sea bass, porgies (scup), and fluke came over the rail. I came home with a nice Black Sea bass and my son even caught a dogfish shark. Great trip all around. I definitely recommend this boat and I will be using them in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to describe your Fish N' Tales fishing trip experience. We're thrilled you and your son enjoyed a successful day of fishing and also appreciated the effort both our captain and crew take to assist young and old alike.
The fish are biting really biting now! They're plenty of more where they came from. :)
All the best,
The crew

We went on the 2 hour fishing trip on 8/14/21. We had a great time and caught a lot of Black Sea Bass and a Scup. The crew was awesome and were kept very busy with all the fish being caught. We only had 14 on our trip which was prefect, lots of personal attention. Matt and the Captain worked hard at the back of the boat where we were and were very pleasant and helpful. Thank you for a great fishing trip to add to our wonderful vacation in beautiful Rhode Island!

Thanks for taking the time to review your fishing trip.
Our captain and crew delight in assisting all their guests. Unlike a lot of jam-packed "party boats where one has to fight for space and has their lines constantly tangled, the guests on Fish n' Tale have a more personal experience with our attentive crew to help as needed.
One of our guests told us it's just like going out on their own charter.
Hope to see you again,
John and the crew.

My husband and I fished at 7:30am with Thaxton, Matt, and Ryan. There were about 15 of us on this outing. It was a foggy morning but Captain Thaxton took us to a few nice fishing spots. Most everyone caught some fish: Skump, black sea bass, a few others. The vessel was roomy; everyone had enough space. Matt and Ryan were very helpful and friendly.

Definitely a great way to spend two hours in Newport. See the harbor, the beautiful marinas and learn how lobsters (and the occasional crabs) are harvested. Due to COVID-19 the boat is less crowded which, while unfortunate for the company, makes for a very relaxing event with plenty of room. Despite the sunny 90F day it was shady virtually all the trip. Very friendly and thoughtful captain and mate.

Thank you for your generous 5 star review. Yes, due to the virus, we've had to limit the number of passengers we can take out in order to practice safe distancing. The good news is that there's more room to stretch out and enjoy the trip and interacting with those amazing lobsters.
Enjoy the rest of your summer,

We did the lobster boat tour out of Newport. We loved it! I loved being out on the water and the views and my kids loved seeing the lobsters and crabs that were caught. The staff did a great job holding all of our interest and educating and telling us about different areas. It was one of my favorite parts of our Rhode Island trip!

That's so nice to hear Julia!
It's gratifying to see the smiles on children's faces as the Lobster traps are raised - and the squeals of delight when they get to safely hold and learn all about these amazing crustaceans. Please do come back to visit again.
Best,
John

A very well run boat. It was very windy and the Captain saw some small children on the boat and stayed in sheltered water so no one got sick. The mates were excellent with the children teaching them how to use poles as well as showing them all different fish that were caught. Highly recommend this boat we had a blast.

How rough does the water get on a typical excursion? I have been on a whale watch once that made me seasick because it was so rough on the ocean, and I don’t want a repeat of that. The lobster boat sounds so interesting, but unfortunately for me, not if it goes out to rough water. Thanks!! Nancy
Written April 12, 2021
Sorry for the late response Nancy - we're just now opening up for the season aboard Fish n' Tales.
To re-assure you, the lobster boat does not go out into the open ocean but sails through the harbor and Narragansett Bay. If the waters are rough, the boat won't go out. Keep your eye on the weather, 99% of the time the Bay is calm for a smooth trip.

Hello. I do not recall an option for a half day, but rather by hours. We went on a three-hour trip from 7.30am-10.30am and it was $65 per adult. It was a beautiful start to the day. We loved it!

Is this trip suggested for a 3 year old?
Written October 24, 2016
I wouldn't suggest it for a three year old. A three year old cannot handle the large reels. there would be to much down time for a three year old.

Hello
After the lobster tours, are you able to purchase fresh lobster from your boat?
Thank you
Written September 14, 2015
Yes. After the you can purchase lobster off the boat that you just caught. They will steam it for free at the fish market next to the dock. If there are not enough lobsters caught, the fish market has fresh lobster too, (caught that day). Many local lobster fisherman sell to that market.
