What a terrific gem of a museum! Just down the street from the International Tennis Hall of Fame, the Audrain Auto Museum may not be physically large, but its quality is outstanding. We saw the exhibit “From the Racetrack to the Opera” which juxtaposed the same car in its most elegant form and in its street-racing form. We were told that the exhibits rotate every several months so there is always something fresh to see and admire. The enthusiasm of the staff and volunteers is evident, and we enjoyed talking with Nancy. The Audrain is truly in its element here as part of Newport’s car culture.

Audrain offers a small but spectacular collection. They rotate the collection four times a year so if you live not to far away an annual pass might make sense.

This is a fun place to see some nice cars. Although there aren't many on display at a time (about 10 cars) the staff was very knowledgeable and took the time to tell us fun facts about the cars and time periods! You could make this a quick activity or an afternoon long one.

I like cars. I'm not an enthusiast, but I do love the sweetness of design and I can appreciate some of the engineering brilliance that goes into the workings of classic vehicles. This is at once a wonderland for folks like me and a terrific museum for buffs. The site is small, two substantial rooms and two smaller areas (one off and one between), but the curatoirs pack the area with a nice number of automotive gems to dazzle the eye and mind. The exhibition we saw was very much a museum presentation, a history of the development of illumination for cars.from a 1901 model with gas lamps where headlights are today through recent model autos and a racer with the latest in electronic brilliance. The greatness of the show is how much is conveyed within the Audrain's limitations. Beyond the physical space, Nancy and her staff people bring the outer world to visitors with their caring and knowledgeable help. Hope folks can get there before the show ends in early August, but expect the museum to be just as entertaining and instructive in future.

Perhaps 25 beautiful cars. The focus of the current exhibit is the history of headlights. Well worth the senior cost of $10.
