The Lighthouse and Mimosa Cruises and Scenic Bay Cruises are narrated tours and offer comfortable sightseeing on Narragansett Bay and Newport Harbor. Evening Cruises are more casual and feature a drink special. The boat has a covered top deck with roll-down sides and an enclosed lower deck that is heated and warm on chilly days. The Coastal Queen was the perfect cruise for the fall. It was enclosed downstairs with a bar and large windows that did not impede the view. The upper deck was mostly surrounded with canvas with large windows to protect from the wind. I went with my mother (85) and aunt (75). The crew could not have been more accommodating and helpful with my mom who doesn’t walk well. We happened to go on a gorgeous sunny day, October 12, 2022. Because it was so late in the season, there were less boats in the bay than in high summer. We were able to get in close to shore to see the gorgeous mansions and the views all around were fabulous! The tour guide and Captain were really great, They narrated the tour in a clear manner, giving excellent points of reference. I highly recommend this tour. We all enjoyed it tremendously!

what a beutiful boat ride fully narrated and we did get to see things we have never seen before.Tiger Woods wifes boat was there and yes it was a WOW. Other boats so large they can be rented for just over one million dollars a week. And they are busy every week. The boat we were on is a very nice,clean boat and the crew was great. I do say you and the family should take this boat out for the almost two hours and you will love it. A great trip. fully enclosed so you can do it no matter what the weather. Right off of the Wharf.

What made this boat trip so worthwhile was the woman who narrated this tour. She was excellent, knew what she was talking about and made it fun. She involved the small kids on board and got them engaged with it all. We’ll done!!!

My husband and I went on the Grapes & Gourmet Sunset Wine Tasting Cruise. It was a nice trip that lasted about 90 minutes and toured the harbor around Jamestown and Newport. The weather was colder, and I was very thankful for the interior room that allowed us to stay warm. The wine tasting came with 3 types of wine, a box of roughly 12 cubes of cheese and a large piece of chocolate. Someone reviewed each wine throughout the cruise. Other beverages (alcoholic & non) and bagged snacks were available for purchase. I had wished grapes & maybe crackers were served with the cheese. I mistakenly assumed we'd be getting grapes since that was the name of the cruise, and didn't realize Grapes & Gourmet is the name of the liquor store who provided the wine. It would also have been nice if there was some commentary on the sights we were passing during the tour. It gave us beautiful views at sunset and a relaxing way to end the day.

You make some interesting and very useful points that we may not have thought of when we planned this event, such as the name of the business co-hosting the event being somewhat confusing with the event itself.
As for narration, Coastal Queen offers narrated tours earlier in the day on the LIghthouse and Mimosa Cruises and the Scenic Bay Cruises. For evening cruises like these, there is no narration due to the event taking place and one would be competing with the other.

We had a nice afternoon on the water. The crew was really kind and helpful, the route enjoyable and the boat well maintained and comfortable. Don't pay for the cocktail cruise though as the drinks were so watered down we might as well have drank straight cranberry juice.

The Sunset Cocktail Cruise was an enjoyable experience. The sunset was beautiful. The included rum punch was tasty. This is not a narrated tour but we sat in the bar and both the server and one of the cruise workers did give some facts. The music played(Jimmy Buffett) was only audible upstairs or in the bar. You do get to see some nice sights along the way, just be aware that all the Newport bat tours travel the same waters so if you do multiple boat rides you will see the same scenery.

You are right you may see the same scenery, but we like to think the views are constantly changing with all the mega yachts, regattas and other activities going on in the harbor on any given day. Our bartenders make Coastal Queen's cruises special and they do make a tasty rum punch! Thank you for the four out of five green dots!

We were in Newport for 3 days celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. On the first day we saw the Coastal Queen out on the water from our hotel. I looked it up and booked it for Friday afternoon. Reservation process was quick and easy. We had a great time on the cruise. It was a 90 min narrated cruise and was very informative about the sites we saw. It was a perfect weather day for it too. The scenery is beautiful and the crew were great! Definitely would recommend!

We had a great time on an afternoon harbor cruise. Laura our guide had lots of great info and the adults and kids on board all seemed to be having fun. The boat was big enough that rough water didn’t impact those of us who get seasick, which we were worried about on a windy day. Would recommend if you have time in Newport.

It was nice view and boat is in good condition with bar. The only complain is that tour guide was too loud and he did not stop talking during the whole excursion which left me with headache and disappointment. The suggestion is to leave people enjoy sightseeing in more quiet atmosphere and if somebody has questions guide can answer periodically. That's why I did not leave tips which he was mentioning few times during tour. Thank you

We are sorry to hear you were unhappy with the boat narration. We do offer boat cruises with no narrated tour, such as the sunset cruises, which are less structured and casual. They have been testing out new microphones on the narrated tours, to try and get it just right. Also, with this being the start of our second season, there are sometimes kinks to work out. Our tour guides usually get rave reviews, but since this was not the case for you, if you would like to email us at ferry@conanicutmarina.com (Coastal Queen is part of Conanicut Marine Services Inc.) and let us know which cruise you were on and the time, we can address this with the team at the next staff meeting so that we can fine tune for future riders. Cruised on the Coastal Queen twice, for a wine tasting and sunset cruise. Both were wonderful unique experiences. Relaxing, informative and breathtaking views make this the ideal way to unwind and enjoy time on Narragansett Bay. The crew is wonderful. I would recommend it to all ages.
