I had always wanted to blow glass and got the opportunity at Thames Glass! It was quick and very reasonable, too! George was my instructor and in 15 minutes, with his help, I had blown a beautiful glass ornament. When I returned to the hotel, my husband and his brother were envious, so we made an appointment for them the... More

So glad we took the chance trying to squeeze in a glass-blowing session for my boys, ages 7 1/2 and 9 1/2. They were so kind getting us in before a big group showed up and my kids had a blast! Reservations probably would have been a better idea, but our weekend was being dictated by weather and time of... More

Read about this place online, otherwise I'd never know about it or try to find it. the glassware for sale is beautiful and artistic, though a bit pricey. Each piece and design is nicer than the last. Very difficult time choosing. It is a small shop (one room) so there is no space for shopping on your own. It is... More

Neat shop where you can arrangbe to do your own glass blowing. Watched people make nice things. Also, have a number of things on display that you can purchase.

I love being able to learn something and do something artsy and fun on our vacations. I was so excited to learn how to make a beautiful glass paperweight with colorful swirls of my own choosing. Sam guided me through the entire process-- keeping things 100% safe all the way. The furnace and molten glass are a bit intimidating, but... More

I make my husband take me every time we come to Newport. It's expensive, as most blown glass items are, so I always shop the seconds section, and always find pieces that I love, at a discount, for some minor flaw that you can barely see. The people who work there are very nice. They give "lessons" on glass blowing... More

The lady in the shop was most helpful and polite. It was just a pity we weren't staying longer to enjoy making an ornament for ourselves.

We really enjoyed this last April but we stopped in February and were surprised to see a sign on the door stating that they are closed for the season but may be open periodically and stop in if the door is open. No definite date for opening but a true thrill to make your own glass ornament or other item... More

Thames Street Glass in Newport, RI has rare treasure in store for the Christmas visitor to Rhode Island. Every year as we decorate our tree, I'm reminded of a long passed dear friend who gave us a collection of beautiful glass ornaments, one every year, from this rare little shop and gallery. Thames Street Glass offers glassblowing lessons as well... More

Anyone going her with a friend or a date has to try blowing some glass. Great people there and a lot of options to choose from. Its only about a half hour and walking distance from good shoppping and eats. An absolute wihle in the area.
