My friend and traveling companion booked this excursion, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I did not know that we would be sailing on an America's Cup sailboat. What a great experience! Gus, Duncan, and Lisa were great! They were engaging, informative and so much fun! The scenery of Newport Harbor and the beautiful houses along the shore were... More

Awesome time aboard Columbia, made all the better by our Captain Kevin who brought his vast experience and knowledge of sailing and racing to make it all come to life. He is a databank of information about competitive sailing, boats & the 12 meter class, and the many sights in and around Newport. He (and we, vicariously) engaged in an... More

We drove down from the Cape for day to escape the cold and gloomy weather. Thank goodness we did. The weather cleared late in the day and we stumbled upon the 12 Meter charter. We sailed the Heritage. A beautiful boat with wonderful crew on our 2 hour sail. Very informative about the boat, history and attentive to safety. They... More

We truly enjoyed our experience on the Columbia. The two hour charter offered amazing sailing as soon as we left the harbor. The crew was great. We plan to return again with friends!

Wonderful intimate sailing trip in the bay at Newport on the boat that won the Americas Cup in 1958. Elegant cared-for vessel that still participates in races! You get to learn a bit about sailing and the Captain invites participants to help with the sails lowering, raising and movement along the journey. Knowledgeable captain and crew talk about interesting sites... More

Sailed on the Columbia with Kevin and crew for the second time over Memorial Day weekend. Engaging crew and loads of fun. The yacht's build lets it cut through the waves in the bay and there is not much motion for those that think they would be affected by sea sickness. All who were aboard had a blast and an... More

There are lots of sailing tours to choose from in Newport, but this has got to be the best! This is a unique experience on a 12 meter racing yacht where the groups are small so you have lots of opportunities to interact with the crew and get a lot of information about both sailing, and the Newport area in... We had so much fun. We got to be a part of the crew and help raise the sails, drive the boat and experience a truly amazing experience. The crew was very capable and friendly. A once in a lifetime experience. Had a perfect day and enjoyed it from the time we left till the time we came in. We... More

Very enjoyable experience on the boat. Nothing against 12 Meters but the parking in the area is horrendous. We paid for Metered Parking and I thought the signage said Metered Parking 9am - 6pm but I got a ticket after paying for three hours as it expired after 6pm and apparently metered parking goest to 9pm. I asked for a... More

Dear barronbrookinn, Thank you for your review of 12 Meter Charters. We are pleased that you enjoyed your sailing experience with 12 Meter Charters. We certainly can sympathize with your parking challenges in downtown Newport! Like many tourist destinations, Newport’s downtown area is compact and street parking is limited and metered. We email parking suggestions with our reservation confirmations and... More
