I’m glad we visited while in Newport for the history and views from the top deck of the fort. Most of it you can only poke in to look at, so not too much to see. The historic brochure was interesting to read while moving from point to point.

Love the view. But Newport has lots of great views. The Ford is only marginally cool. It’s really just a big brick wall with some dirt around it. As far as forts go, it’s kind of lame. Don’t get too excited about visiting this place.

We have toured a whole bunch of forts outside the U.S. and this one had the second best view. It was probably the best maintained fort we have visited. It looks small from the outside, but is not. The little museum was interesting and the view from the top was lovely. Nice self-guided tour.

Fun to roam around and explore here. Enjoy the water view. Cool old fort to see. Bit 2 mile trail goes around entire fort was fun to check out.

We stopped by Fort Adams State Park and planned to just stay a few minutes and look out at the water. We decided to do the self guided tour and enjoyed it very much. The view from the top of the Fort is beautiful. This is a great way to spend a couple hours and learn a bit of history.
