Located at the entry to Newport Harbor, the park offers a panoramic view of Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay. The park offers swimming, fishing, boating, soccer, rugby, and picnicking. In the summers, concerts including the Jazz and Folk Festivals, draw thousands of fans. Accessible by car, boat, harbor shuttle, and other transportation, this is a wonderful park in a great... Very interesting place to visit. Very enjoyable, especially getting to see the sailboats get ready for a race.

We have visited this park several times. You can get a tour of the fort or just walk around the park and use the trail that goes around the area. There are reenactment weekends that are interesting, as well as concerts and athletic events on the lawns. It is a nice way to spend a couple hours with beautiful views... More

We called in here having had a long day viewing the mansions so a nice walk along the harbour was a great way to get some fresh sea air. At the end of the harbour was what we thought was a genuine sea clipper but on further inspection it was a replica. There was a tour available but we didn't... More

Military history buffs will love this place, but I really loved the finale when we were allowed to crawl through the antique escape tunnels with just a flashlight.

While not a Federal Park (because there was never a battle there) It is worth the visit. There is much going on there from Sailing to Festivals. We went for the history and took a great tour and learned a lot about how first were contracted to the proper way to fire a cannon. we really enjoyed the gentleman who... More

We stopped in to check it out after a little drive out to Castle hill light house. We enjoyed the leisurely stroll, some del's lemonade... sat out at the pier and enjoyed the view and walked around the parameter at our own pace, chatting and enjoying the pups out for a walk as well. Nice public spot with plenty of... More

Fort Adams...the largest Fort built in the US for a number of years...not a tremendous amount to see...but worth it for the historical perspective...though not a lot of history since it was never used in warfare (thank goodness)...but it does provide a view into how protection was built in the 1800's..

We visited Newport for one night and before heading home decided to visit Fort Adams which is a short 15 min. drive from downtown Newport. You get a quick 30 min walking tour/history lesson for $15/family. Our tour guide was a Salve Regina college student and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. I'm sorry I didn't ask him his name.... More

The tour is well worth taking. You can not explore on your own and the tour guide was very informative. We got to go inside some bunkers, under them, on top and around them. Even the rains did not stop us.
