Always a treat when we get to do these walking tours! I especially love that so many of the tour docents grew up in Buffalo, and almost always have great anecdotes about their tours. The tour on Tillinghast place was extra special because our docent grew up on the street and had all these great stories and descriptions of the homes. We’ve also done the Elmwood village and Silo City grounded walking tours, which are similarly excellent. I do wish they offered more tours on weekends or after 5 PM. I’ve had my eye on the Parkside and Hertel tours for a while but the one per month they do outside of work hours always fills up really fast.

This was the first time Explore Buffalo offered a bus tour showing a sampling of the best of Buffalo's murals. It was very enjoyable, we had many stops so we could take photos and experience the murals close up. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and added to our understanding of the artists and techniques used to create the murals.
Only problem was the windows fogging on the bus, in warmer weather that would not be an issue. I recommend this tour, and I am grateful for the many pieces of public art sponsored by the Albright Knox Art Museum as well as the pieces sponsored by various businesses. My Facebook friends are all a buzz about the pictures I posted from this trip. Can't wait for my out of town friends to visit and see some of the murals in person!

We did the Scandalous Buffalo tour on a Sunday morning. It was an absolutely beautiful Fall day to see some of the amazing historical sites around the city. Our docent Bonnie was a wealth of knowledge. She was energetic, funny, and was absolutely captivating. We had a great time learning about Buffalo's scandalous history and would highly recommend this to anyone. The annual Explore Buffalo membership we purchased 3 years ago is well worth the investment. We've done Explore Buffalo tours as a date night, as a family, and even when entertaining out of town guests. There is great variety in the tours they offer and something for everyone.

I just took the hidden gems of the Delaware district tour and it was excellent. Judy was very knowledgeable and gave the perfect amount of material and kept us moving at just the right pace. It was their first winter tour and I highly recommend taking any that they offer this winter. It was a great way to get out of the house, get a little exercise, fresh air and knowledge about our great city. A welcome respite from Covid! Everyone wore masks, bundled up and had a great time! Thanks explore Buffalo! You guys rock!

My sister-in-law and her husband have the Explorer Pass and couldn't recommend Explore Buffalo more highly for our visit. We took them up on the Leading Ladies of Delaware Ave tour and then again for the Silo City Vertical tour.

Leading Ladies was a new tour for our docent, but you wouldn't have known it if she hadn't mentioned it. For a tour that admittedly wasn't "my pick", it was a really entertaining and enjoyable experience that flew by. Whether it was admiring the architecture of Delaware Ave or listening to tales of Buffalo society of yore and some of the "scandal" of the past, the tour had a little something for everyone.

The Silo City vertical tour was "my pick" and it didn't disappoint at all. Our docent, Margaret, should be crowned "queen of the silos" if such a honorary title exists. She knew SO MUCH about the space that it was easy to imagine the facilities "coming to life" as we explored them. As someone with a fear of falling (less so the heights), this tour was totally manageable and well worth it. Margaret was upfront on the reality of the facility, but her experience and delivery completely makes you feel at ease. This is a hidden gem that seamlessly mixes unrivaled views, historical perspective and urban exploration. A hidden gem!

Can't wait for our next trip to Buffalo to add more stops with Explore Buffalo.

I took the bike tour of South Buffalo on Saturday, the first weekend in September and a perfect sunny day. It was cool enough to make biking a perfect way to enjoy this tour. Our docent, Sheila, provided a wonderful story of life and history in this area of Buffalo . Since she grew up in South Buffalo, she was able to describe the history of this Irish community and provide details of many prominent leaders many of whom were familiar to her and her family. Her presentation revealed the pride that Irish Americans have for the perseverance and accomplishments of their ancestors.

I loved seeing and learning about the history and people as Sheila referred to them when we stopped at various points of interest including schools, churches and parks- especially Cazenovia Park. I hope to take the walking tour one day. I strongly recommend this tour because it nicely supplements the stories of the Irish that are presented in other tours such as The Masters of American Architecture and Canalside.

We had a wonderful morning to explore "South Buffalo by Bike." Sheila did a terrific job of informing and entertaining us with the area's history, popular residents, and community stories. Her personal connections (after all, it's South Buffalo :) really added to the tour as well! The tour adhered to safety measures (both COVID-19 and biking rules.) Explore Buffalo continues to be the perfect choice to learn more about our city, entertain guests, or for visitors to learn about Buffalo! Thank you to all the volunteer docents! I look forward to my Larkin tour in a few weeks.

My wife and I have done several tours with Explore Buffalo. We have never been disappointed by any of the tours. Our most recent was the Silo Vertical tour. This tour was a little more pricey than most of their other tours (mostly to cover liability insurance for the property owner who is gracious enough to open this unique inside property tour to the public) but well worth it. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable on the history and future of Silo City. Having the chance to climb (stairs and one covered bridge walkway) to the top of the grain silos and see the inside workings is a one of a kind experience. Due to the future development of Silo City, this specific. tour may not be available much longer. Do it!!!

My partner and I went on the Silo City Vertical tour with our guide Margaret. It was a small tour (7 people plus Margaret) on a Friday late afternoon/early evening. Margaret was fun, engaging and highly knowledgeable.

The tour itself was so cool - we got to go up inside the abandoned silo buildings. There were a lot of stairs, but it was well worth the views and the amazing photos we got to take. It was so fascinating, I didn't even notice that two hours had gone by when it was time to finish up.

I highly recommend this tour - and if the other Explore Buffalo tours are even half as interesting and entertaining as this one was - I would recommend those as well.

And...if you didn't see this fact on the "buy tickets" page...all the tour guides are volunteers and the money from your ticket allows them to give tours to school children for free.

Yup, I did this tour twice over two consecutive weekends. The first time was my first Explore Buffalo tour when they began to be offered in this COVID world.

Larry was our tour guide and is so full of knowledge and love for Silo City and Buffalo... he wears it on his "sleeve".

The second time I brought my significant other and kids (one single digit and the other a teen) and we all had a blast! Larry was again our guide. There is so much information that I learned new history the second time around.

Don't ask questions, hurry and register for the tour!
