    College Cross-Country race 10/16
This is a beautiful park In Buffalo. We were here for a college Cross-Country race on Saturday, 10/16. Unfortunately it was a little chilly and rainy but still a very nice park. There is a golf course and a zoo in the boundary of this park, but we didn’t have time nor was the weather conducive to those activities. A couple pictures of the park and shots during the race ate attached.

    A B I G park that has a little bit of everything
Delaware Park is a big park that has a little bit of everything for everyone. For any zoo fan this park offers a good sized zoo that is always full of excitement with a verity of animals and exhibits. Outside the zoo there is something for almost every sport and fitness lover. To walk the whole path going around the park 1 lap it took me about 45 minutes. I also saw bikers on this path too. Part of the path is for pedestrian and biker’s only. While walking i saw basketball courts, huge golf course, soccer nets and baseball field. I even saw an outdoor gym. There are picnic tables and benches throughout the park. There are plenty of free parking throughout the park. There is a good sized lot near the basketball courts. Parking near the zoo will cost $5.00 for most of the year. The parking lot is opened to anyone at the zoo or enjoying time at The Delaware Park. Next time you are in the area go check out this fantastic park!

So I went in for a Dr. appoint and she told me that I need to get my blood pressure down,. She took out her prescription pad and began to write. She handed it to me and I read "Walk in Delaware Park". What a great suggestion that was. It is beautiful there and the Buffalo Zoo near by is an added bonus.

Super accessible and lovely open park designed by Olmsted and part of the Parks system in Buffalo, a lovely, well used area for all people to recreate, exercise and enjoy. Bring your bike or blades, or just your feet and have fun!

I just love delaware park it is a beautiful place to walk the dogs around hoyt lake and through the park . Shakespeare in the park is the place to be if you like the theater thing. Just bring some folding chairs and sit on top of the hill or a blanket and lay on the hill. The play is FREE Bring a lunch and a cooler or they sell hot dogs hamburgers or sausage and water or soft drinks for a reasonable price. You can rent canoes. There is a beautiful rose garden you have to see to believe. Soccer field playground for the kids . Visit the Art Gallery Cross over the spiral bridge to the Japanese garden and visit the historical society. See the giant statue of David or Abe Lincoln plus several others.

It was a cold day in Buffalo for us seniors to get out and enjoy the wonderful walking and jogging trail. But we did a drive-by. Many people were utilizing the park and enjoying the cold but sunny day. There are tennis courts, a baseball diamond, park benches and tables and it is right next to the Buffalo Zoo. We didn't see any BBQ grilles but it is early in the season. The trees haven't turned green yet but it was beautiful nevertheless. One road inside the park was closed so we weren't able to see it all. Lots of construction going on in the area but the traffic was moving steadily. A nice and safe area as far as we can determine. We will definitely be back in the warmer weather.

90% of my lunch breaks are spent in this park. It is always impressive and peaceful. The park staff takes VERY good care of the park, which inspires visitors to do the same. If you want to just go for a walk, walk your dog, play soccer, play baseball, play tennis, ride your bike, play basketball, or have a picnic-the things that you can do are endless!

Hands down, the best park! I love Delaware park for many reasons. There are sports, basketball courts, a zoo, golfing space, ice cream stands, a bridge to the museum, a pond, etc, etc. it's beautiful winter, summer, spring, and fall. Perfect if you're going for a walk, run, or bike ride with or without the family. Perfect place to walk your dog or take your kids to a jungle gym. I love love love this park. For me it's a spiritual place, it's home.

Delaware Park is one part of a connected link of parkways, which are lawned and treed areas connecting traffic circles which have statues or fountains in them. A fantastic cemetery is part of this "complex" in addition to the Park itself, which has a golf course on the interior and a bike or run or strolling path on the perimeter, a 1.75 mile route. While one side of the park is parallel to a four lane highway, the rest is surrounded by quiet residential streets and houses. There is a small play area for kids, and access to the Zoo on the edge. It's a great spot for getting some fresh air in a safe place in the idle of the city. Many happy memories of my jogging days and friends made in the Park. By the way, this entire complex was designed by the brilliant landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmstead, the designer of Central Park in New York.

Since I live in Buffalo, I actually visit this park about 3 times a week, minimum. Delaware Park is huge and I use the portion North of the Scajaquada (198) for my jogging. They have a 1.75 mile loop that's relatively flat, but has enough of a slope to make you work for a stretch (and then the downhill slope is a wonderful reward). The inside of the track has plenty of room for a 18 hole golf course, a few baseball fields, soccer fields, and I've seen several lacrosse and rugby teams hold tournaments too. On the corner of Parkside and Amherst is the Buffalo Zoo, and my jog is never complete without seeing the Buffalo exhibit from the track. And on the outside portion of the track are a few playgrounds for children, a large basket ball court, and tennis courts.

The South portion of Delaware Park may be even more picturesque with Hoyt lake, Marcy Casino, the Rose Garden, and Shakespeare Hill where in the summers they hold free shows of featured Shakespeare Plays (see 'Shakespeare in Delaware Park'). There is also another set of playgrounds and a running track that goes around the lake. And finally, right across from the South portion of Delaware Park is the Knox-Albright Art Museum.

The two portions of Delaware park are connected by the running track that veers off the loop of the North, passes by more tennis courts, and up a ramp going over the 198. If you don't take the path over the Scajaquada, you can continue along the trail North of the expressway to the Buffalo History Museum, which sits in front of a beautiful man made pond. The entire path is stunning and you can find walkers, runners, and cyclists on it just about any time of the year when it's not covered in snow. But don't worry, even when it's covered in snow, it's still of good use: the cross country skiers get to use it then!

So if you're in the city and looking for a good place to stretch your legs, take a run, golf, snap some beautiful pictures, or just need a breath of fresh air, Delaware Park is the place to be!
