Stopped in to see their annual festival and was blown away by the creativity of this community and their willingness to teach anyone willing to express interest. This is a MUST attend event in Buffalo. Demonstrations included screenpinting, letter press, origami t-shirt printing, book binding etc... Hands on activities engaged our entire party of six with and age span of over sixty years.

Part museum, part art store, part book shop. Very interesting stuff to look at and purchase. Great place for very unusual gifts.

Between the historical presses to see, the gallery, or the works for sale, this place has beautiful stuff.

We took some of our grandchildren to the Edible Book Fair, entrants make food that represents a certain book of their choice, most of the entries were cake. The food is then judged and after winners are announced the food can be eaten! It is fund raiser for the organization, $5/person. The kids loved looking at all the different cakes and eating them! There was also a food station where the kids made a "Cat in the Hat" out of strawberries, bananas, and a marshmallow. They also made a poster using a 1929 printing press. As we were leaving they asked if they could enter next year, they were already coming up with ideas for their Edible Books!

The Western New York Book Arts Center is a cooperative selling a wide variety of paper products and souvenirs made by local craftsmen. Do take a look downstairs where there are a number of old printing presses (which still are used) and drawers and drawers of olf typesetting, It's fascinating to paw through what is now a long lost art.
