The museum is great if you like a lot of modern art but not for me. I used to like going there when they had different types of art but they sold all their precious antiquities off and I no longer enjoy looking at oddities.

It is the best in Buffalo but that is not saying much. Some of the paintings, sculptures and exhibits are truly ugly and have no business being shown anywhere. There could be a lack of talent in the Buffalo area so they take what they can get. Not worth a visit there, so many better art and museum choices in big cities.

This Gallery is actually a Museum, a small gem tucked away at the south end of Elmwood Park. It houses one of the finest collections of Post Impressionist art in America, and can be taken in in an afternoon. Their small kitchen turns out big flavor in its limited but thoughtful menu, so do lunch and then enjoy a stroll thru their 2 floors of contemporary masters.

I was recently in Buffalo (Feb. 2020) and discovered that the Gallery is undergoing a huge renovation of its grounds and will be closed for a few years. My cousin's husband (Rodney Taylor) is commissioned there and also is one of the artists featured at its other location, The Northland site, located at 612 Northland Ave. in Buffalo. A wonderful show about "Home" is up through April 12!

Even though they have 9000 pieces in their collection there is not even 1 procent on display. They are closing from Nov 4th for about four years, the future looks promising, hopefully the art gets out of the basement.
