Low water levels are even lower than the last time I was out for a drive. Still a good place to take a drive or pedal to, but it's not anything close to what it was - more land than water on the one side.

Thank you for your review of Lake Mary, k1d2. We are hoping with the recent winter snow and rain storms, that the water levels will rise shortly. We welcome you back to enjoy the recreation area and surrounding beauty of the area!

Thank you for your review and feedback, Cheryl S. While this is a popular location for locals and tourists alike, we do hope that our visitors are still able to enjoy the great outdoor experience and picnic areas at Upper and Lower Lake Mary.

Went to the lower side of Lake Mary. We could see the shore line where the lake was but was only a meadow. No water. So disappointed to see this. Also worrisome.

Lake Mary is very low. From my observations and standing at the spillway it is about 30 feet low and VERY muddy. Visibility is less than 6 inches. I submerged a spinner lure and could not see it when it was 6 inches below the...More

There are supposedly 2 parts to Lake Mary, upper and lower. Lower Lake Mary is compiled of a dried up field of grass. Upper part of the so-called lake is a muddy dirty looking body of water I would neither swim nor fish in. Don't...More

We drove from Tucson to Flagstaff the back way (8/9). Avoided I-10, I-17, Phoenix and traffic. Saw only spectacular scenery, and an open road. Along the way, we passed several bodies of water, including the two Lake Marys, the Upper Lake and the smaller Lower...More

Unremarkable but quiet place to hide out for a day. Pretty when the wildflowers are in bloom. We camped and canoed here several times. National Forrest permit was required in 1980...not sure about now.

where to get national forest permit so we can camp along the lake or camp grounds? Is there a benefit for 100% P.& T veterans? What are the fire restrictions?

if you are just visiting as a day trip I believe it is free. There are camping sites which require a fee.
