While staying in Flagstaff on vacation, we wanted to visit a park so the kids could run around and play for a bit. Bushmaster Park was a wonderful option for what we wanted. There are two large playground areas; one being older and in a shady grove and trees and the other being a newer and more modern area out in the open. While it didn't really pertain to our visit, the park also had a skate park, tennis and basketball courts, and even a dog park. Park also had some water fountains and restrooms as well. Very welcoming place, which is also very family friendly,
There were a few minor downsides to our visit to Bushmaster Park, though. First and foremost, while the park is fairly well maintained, there were some spots in need of repair or at least refurbishing. Some of the concrete sections are showing signs of aging and wear, and some of the playground equipment could use a touch up. Secondly, some part of the park were just kinda dirty. In particular, there was a fair amount of litter scattered around the areas as well as graffiti spray painted on building or playground equipment.
Still an overall beautiful park with a lot of options available. Would highly recommend to others, especially those with kids and/or dogs.

Though the setting is nice and the park is big, there are a lot of street people who hang out here and sometimes it can feel downright sketchy. I would go elsewhere

My kids love this park. There's 2 sides. One with a traditional playground, and a more modern one with a kids zip line. There's also a dog park, skate park, and a few ramadas. It's a great place to unwind from a great trip. I had difficulty getting to it in October since the road there was all torn up and only open to local traffic.

Bushmaster Park offers all that a family could want - beautiful urban park, swings, playsets, ramadas with BBQs and a skate park with tennis and basketball courts. And during the day you and your family can enjoy it all - but when the sun goes down, pack it up and get the heck out of Dodge - because the freaks come out at night!

There are too many intoxicants hanging around to enjoy this place... plenty of other natural beauty in and around flag to see.

One side of the park has one of the newer, really great, all-inclusive (disabilities friendly) playgrounds. We went to this park specifically for that reason while visiting Flagstaff (first time...) from out of state. We noticed many men (homeless? not clear) spread out, sitting under the two picnic gazebos, which you must pass to get to the playground and the dog park. The restrooms are also right in-between.
When we took our kindergartener to the bathroom on the way out, a woman approached us asking for a phone because someone had just slashed her neck/throat & she was bleeding profusely. While administering first aid and talking to 911 dispatch, we learned it was associated with a meth dealer... Good news is the first officer on sight was within a few minutes. All the single men hanging around had suddenly disappeared. The only person who came to help after it was a clear emergency was a local who said there had been another incident not long ago.
This was all in daylight, on Labor Day, at about 4pm.

The park facilities are absolutely wonderful. The city has really tried to provide access to activities that are fun for all. There are two large playground areas, tennis and basketball courts, a dog park, a skate park, an exercise area, a roller hockey rink, and a horseshoe court (does anyone play horseshoes?). I have been there several times with my kids and they have a blast every time, especially with the new zip line type equipment. That being said, there are still a significant amount of transients/homeless that make this park their daytime hangout while they're waiting for the shelter to open. I know the city overhauled some parts of the park to improve this situation. I guess it's still a work in progress. I have never felt threatened by them, they usually keep to themselves, but their presence is obvious. The most troublesome thing that has happened is some teenagers near the skate park smoking marijuana and swearing a lot, but my kids and I just gave them wide berth and there was no trouble. If I were to split it up, I would give the park a 5 for the facilities and a 3 for the general atmosphere.

I have been coming here all my life and the park is still great with lots of space, bbq areas, basketball and tennis, and a skate park but its not very safe. I have stopped going here alone because I no longer feel safe. Once the park gets some safety changes it will become the best park in flag once again. Just avoid the back of the park on the trail system!

We found this park by accident and it has something to appeal to every age. From the 2-5 play areas, to skateboard area, tennis or pickle ball courts, and innovative play areas for the older kids, this park has it all. There are many pavilions with tables and grills for picnics. Lots of grass and walking paths also.

We were visiting Flagstaff from Phoenix. There had been some snow recently when we visited. We used the opportunity to play in the snow and play at the park. The playground is amazing. Lots to climb and do that isn’t usually available at a standard park. There are two zip lines. One is a rope with a circular disc to sit or stand on as you swing across. The other is a seat with over the shoulder metal harness to allow people too young or unable to hold on and position themselves safely on the rope to zip line securely. My two year old who had neither the strength or safety awareness to zipline traditionally, was able to enjoy the experience in the harnessed seat.
There is also a merry go round, wheel chair accessible rocking boat, slides, and lots of climbing challenges.
A dog park, ramadas, and second playground are also available but we did not visit them, although we could see them. There is also a restroom by the parking lot.
