About
Specialties Ceiba Adventures specializes in Southwest river outfitting. Our services include river equipment rentals(14', 16', and 18' rafts, kayaks, motorboats, portos, full kitchen, and all the parts and pieces you could need), transportation/shuttles, complete food packing and menu planning, and overall general logistics. All with a smile! :) History Established in 1985. Ceiba Adventures was launched in 1985 with unique itineraries to the famed Maya ruins in southern Mexico. In 2005 Ceiba Adventures expanded its services into the Grand Canyon river equipment outfitting arena. It seemed only natural with our 25 year foundation in Grand Canyon and managing similar operations in Southern Mexico in the 1980s and 1990s. The National Park Service, USGS Flagstaff, private boaters, river outfitters, independent scientists, and the film industry continue to utilize Ceiba for Grand Canyon outfitting.

My group of 15 used Ceiba for a recent 21 day Grand Canyon trip. They were excellent over the phone in advance, great at meeting our groups dietary needs, and were helpful in rigging and taking out. The menu was fantastic, and having them as an outfitter was absolutely worth it. Our entire group was stoked to have worked with them, and I would not hesitate to use them again!

I've worked with Ceiba for three Grand Canyon trips, and I can't say enough about their integrity, their attention to detail, their flexibility, and the quality of their gear.
Having been awarded a cancellation date for our last GC trip only a couple of months before the trip was due to launch, we struggled right up until the last week before the launch to finalize our list of trip participants (we all know how flaky boaters can be when they're off the water, no?).
Even with the uncertainty regarding the number of boats and the amount of food we'd require, our contact Erin at Ceiba was always supportive. I honestly think that without her support and sense of humor about the whole thing we might not have managed to pull the trip off.
The gear is top notch, in three trips the only issue we ever had was a worn chicken line that we cut and re-tied...never had any problems with anything else. We broke a few pieces of gear, and where I'd kind of expect to be gouged for that kind of thing we were actually charged a lower price than we'd have had to pay to buy and replace the gear ourselves...amazing.
On both of my last two trips we've had Ceiba do our food pack for us as well, which they refer to as the Whole Shebang package. It's aptly named, there was never a time when anyone on the trip complained about the quality or quantity of the food. In fact, the biggest problem that we ran into in that regard was having TOO MUCH food, which in my mind is an OK problem to have on a remote multi-day float trip like the GC.
The Ceiba staff is outstanding in all regards, this attitude is fostered by Scotty and Rachel at the top and is apparent regardless of who one deals with at the company. In a lifetime of extended outdoor adventures, I've never run across an outfitter that I regarded as highly as I do Ceiba.
They're my first and only choice for outfitting river trips in the Southwest.

I was lucky enough to pull a permit right before COVID hit in Feb 2020. My first call was to Ceiba to arrange the WHOLE SHABANG. They outfitted our 21 day, 16 person trip flawlessly. The foodpack, menu, boats, grover, kitchen and all other necessities for a 21 day expedition were expertly arranged and executed. The staff was so helpful for me as a first time TL with tons of insider information. The food was a major hit! They did a fantastic job outfitting our trip and took a tremendous amount of stress out of my life as the TL. Everything went so well. The boats were in great shape, and all the gear preformed as needed. THANK YOU CEIBA!

Their equipment is a little dated and worn – stoves, cook set, frames, oarlocks etc. all required constant field repair and tinkering. There were major issues with the menu and their inability to address dietary needs. We worked with them to ensure a peanut-free trip but that’s not what we received creating an unsafe situation. Their system and protocols for handling special dietary needs are inadequate and inefficient. It was difficult knowing what special foods were available for each meal. The coolers had to be opened more than necessary during a mid-August trip to find the food accelerating the ice melt. And after the trip, the staff was not very responsive to our concerns. Outfitting services should enrich the Grand Canyon experience, not diminish it.

To be able to take my family down the Colorado thru the Grand Canyon was a highlight of my life. The Whole Shabang provided us with spot on gear and vittles! Excellent all the way around. Good wholesome food, (logistically simple), quality gear and equipment, all combined to make an amazing experience for each of us. What a place to share. Thanks, Ceiba! Your decades of Grand Canyon river running experience sure made our trip the best it could have been.

We recently completed an 8 person, 16 day, trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. After considering several providers we selected Ceiba's "whole shebang" solution, and we were delighted.
In particular we appreciated Chelsea's great work organizing our food and developing a menu that met the needs of our diverse group. Geoff provided lots of good clear advice. Marilyn did a terrific job of getting us educated and launched at Lees Ferry. Dave was great at getting us out of Diamond before another thunderstorm closed the road. I appreciated Rachael coming out far after work hours to greet us upon our return. It was clear that other great folks were equally valuable if not as visible.
Ceiba's equipment was generally well thought out. It all fit together well, spares and tools were provided appropriately, and the rafts were a perfect fit for us (they were forgiving).
The food far exceeded expectations. There were lots of little special things such as real maple syrup, salmon, premium steaks and hamburgers, and fantastic freshly roasted coffee. Even "Olive Tapenade" that I'd never heard of. The menu was clearly tuned to the specific characteristics of our group.
I've lead other Grand Canyon trips in the past where we organized and purchased our own food, and combined personal equipment with rental equipment. Ceiba's whole shebang solution was much, much less stressful, and not much more expensive.
Next time I get a permit I'll book Ceiba again without a doubt.

Ceiba has outfitted several trips that I've been on and now I've done every season with Ceiba gear - fall, winter, summer/spring and happy to finally get a review out there to let folks know...Each trip was very different, expect for that the outstanding Ceiba experience and service each time. Ceiba's team did great job meeting the needs of each trip, the extra gear for weather, expert cooler planning to allow us extra ice for the summer trip (yes, not lying - it was great) and menus variety that kept us happily stuffed river folks. Lots of organic options, with easy menu changes for dietary needs (veggie and allergies). They really care that each trip has everything they need to have a great time on the water. They made it stress free, and enjoyable to plan with them. If you're new to river running they'll help you be a pro in no time and if you're experienced and only need a few items to make your trip go, they're great at providing only what you need without trying to sell you something you don't. Great people and great gear - solid all around!

I just finished a full 16 person, 3 week winter trip with Ceiba and I have nothing but positive feedback to give. The staff felt like friends after leaving. The gear was in great shape and the food was ample and well organized. It was a seamless process in figuring out what gear we would supply and what we needed to outfit. MOST NOTEWORTHY: Scott and Rachel help advocate for the Grand by offering discounts for members of the Grand Canyon Private Boaters Assoc. and Grand Canyon River Guides - any business owners willing to take a financial hit to help protect and advocate for our wild places are getting my business.

I run private rafting trips on the Colorado through Grand Canyon and I have used all of the outfitters at one time or another to do the food prep, equipment rental, and shuttle. Over time, Ceiba has proven they stand above the rest, providing excellent service from their experienced and responsive staff, and at a reasonable price. Can't say enough good things about them! Kudos to Scott, Rachael, and the rest!

We can't say enough of how good the service was at Ceiba. Erin, Rachael, Sparky, the folks behind the scenes prepping food, rigging, cleaning etc etc.
The whole process from booking, paying, organizing, outfitting, transporting, rigging, de rigging etc was all top notch and of a high high class.
Food was epic, huge portions with masses of variety, quality etc. Heaps of coffee, snacks, hors, deserts and so much more. If you think you'll be hungry, no chance! We had steak one night that even a Montana cowboy would be blown away with. We chose the Guides Choice menu and it was fantastic - if you go hungry on this then you need a diet... ;-)
We will be back 100%.
