Empty stores

Many stores were closed and out of business. Only pizza and subway to eat there for a meal. Only one major store there. The mall was pretty much dead and disappointing.

We stopped in to see a cast iron art show, which was excellent! There isn't much retail going on, but there are a few places to eat. I'm not a big shopper.

Great excursion on a steam engine!! Very informative. If you have an occasion to go to Scranton, I suggest visiting this museum. Every person I met was helpful and engaging!!

I came here with my girlfriend to see the Welcome to Scranton sign from The Office (on the second floor), and to do a little bit of shopping. We were surprised at how many stores in this mall were vacant - I'm estimating that about 1/3 of the mall is unused right now. This is the more sad side of... More

Hello Andrei, Thank you for taking time to review our center! We are happy you enjoyed yourself and found fun things to do while visiting. Many of our vacant store fronts have already been leased and more fun attractions and great stores will be opening in the near future so check back! Had to search for it, but in this mall we finally found the Welcome To Scranton sign from The Office's opening credits. It's on the second floor, in a short dead end wing. It's displayed prominently for photo opps.

Wow, this mall really went downhill. It has been awhile since we were last here; my wife & I could not believe how vacant the mall has come. The first floor from the center court to the former Bon-ton Store is like you’re walking through a ghost town. It’s really sad and so depressing to see all the vacant stores.... More

While this mall was once the center of attention in Scranton, it has, like so many other things in Scranton, deteriorated. Most of the stores, including the anchor store have closed and there is little hope on the horizon. I would stay away from there now as it isn't a very safe area to be in at night.

I recall when I was little coming to Steamtown, going to the toy shops, having lunch at the food court and make an entire day out of it. Now, the food court is down to 1 or 2 places with the rest empty. About 80% of the shops have closed with those still open bunched together. Depressing is the best... More

Paying tribute to The Office remains the only reason to visit this mall. Struggles of the remaining shops adjacent to the shut storefronts makes it even more depressing than a completely vacant building.
