Broadway shows

The shows offered at the cultural center are fabulous! I have not seen a show I didnt appreciate. Seating is good. Pricing is reasonable and if you get a season ticket you save money all around. Usually they give you 3 days to attend and sunday afternoon offers the best seats.

The cultural center even offers special other events wine tastings and weddings all done fabulously. Space is great.

I believe they even give free tours.

great historical landmark

It is great to get inside and see some of the high caliber performances that are brought to the Scranton area. Would love to see some of the profits funneled into a preservation project for the main auditorium

In Desperate Need of Repair
Sep 2019 • Couples
We came to the Culture Center to attend a musical. We were impressed by the architecture of this historic building. We were a bit scared of the interior of the theatre. Tiles were hanging from the ceiling as if they would drop at any moment, water marks were evident on the ceiling as well, there were holes in the walls and fixtures, large patches peeling paint, and the acoustics made it hard to understand the show at times. I certainly hope they are able to make improvements to this facility as it certainly is a diamond in the rough.

Great Venue
May 2018 • Couples
I have seen a number of shows and concerts here. There is no such thing as a bad seat. I highly recommend the balcony center especially for shows or plays. The acoustics are terrific and the staff is friendly and helpful. Hope to see you bring back the NE Philharmonic at some point. My wife and I really miss the shows. Although a classical style theater it is also a great rock venue.

Wedding Venue
Jan 2019 • Family
My family and I attended a wedding here. It was a beautiful building. It was the perfect venue for a wedding! Food was good and wait staff were efficient for a large crowd. Bathrooms were a bit of a walk from the reception area, but there were a ton of stalls, so no wait at all. I was impressed with this venue!

Needs a major overhaul

My husband and I recently attended a production at the cultural center. The show was fantastic. Finding our seats and navigating through the center is relatively easy and the ushers were pleasent and helpful.
However ten minutes after we sat down I started to itch. Everywhere. This only happens when I’m in old dusty, moldy structures. Looking around I found peeling walls and ceilings. The seats were dusty, worn out and very uncomfortable. I scratched the entire production and was not sure I would be able to stay for the entire time.
If you have allergies to dust and mold I’m not sure this is the place you want to spend money for theater tickets well over a hundred dollars. The play was great but I can not say I enjoyed my experience and most likely will not return in the near future.
Please think about renovating the inside of the theater.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. The interior damage you see, the peeling walls and other issues, are due to water infiltration from the exterior caused by an improperly designed roof and gutter system. The exterior must be addressed first to prevent further damage so that we can then focus our renovation efforts on the interior of the theatre. We are working diligently with our state legislators and the Governor to secure the $10 million in funding needed to restore the exterior and roofing systems. Your support in making it known how important this building is to you can go a long way to ensuring we receive that funding; letters to the Governor, your local representatives and local newspapers are appreciated to help spread the message. Once the exterior renovations are complete, a campaign to renovate and restore the interior will begin - partners who have been so generous in supporting the ability to bring entertainment like the Broadway in Scranton Series and helping to fund our children's programming, will certainly be asked to join in that effort to restore our crown jewel.

Attended a Schemel Forum (Univ. of Scranton) presentation on a famous musician by a doctor who is a psychiatric by profession and also plays piano at the professional level. It was great to hear the music played and listen to an analysis of the composer's mental state.

Celebrating Scranton

What a magnificent building. I was at a function celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Scranton Chamber of Commerce. The accommodations were spectacular. If you ever get an opportunity to attend a play or an other festivity I highly recommend you check out this Architectural Charm.

Interior really needs work
May 2018 • Couples
We are Broadway season ticket holders for 3 years now. The shows are fabulous, staff great. However, the interior walls are peeling, seats are very uncomfortable since they are so old, pitch to get up the seats is scary and many folks fall while climbing. There is a musty smell all over. The upstairs ladies room needs major renovation; stalls are very small and hard to even get into.
Instead of doing outside renovations, take some of the grant money and clean up the inside.
Why not ask Toyota or some of the Broadway benefactors to spend some money on the inside??

Needs a Renovation
Mar 2018 • Business
I attended a business reception at the center, The center has potential but has not had much of a renovation or face lift. The staff was pleasant and the food was fine. I would not hold my own reception here unless my budget was restricted and this was the only place I could get.
