Museum is not huge but it is interesting. Make sure you see the little film. The trip itself was wonderful. There was actually views, tunnel, and lots of great history. Our guide was fun and informative. The ride was almost and hour, they had a section of track/line in disarray after the local flooding. Never knew a trolley went that fast!!!! FUN!

We did not visit the museum. We only took the trolley ride. It was about and hour long and left from the platform along the parking lot. The ride passed the old Scranton train station, now a Radisson Hotel, a water fall, and went through a long tunnel. I strongly recommend bringing a jacket for the tunnel ride (even in the summer, as it was very chilly.) The ride stopped at a train restoration workshop where it was difficult to see. There was restroom and water available at the stop. Once the engine was turned around, we returned on the same route.

It was a pleasant ride.

This is a great museum where rare and fragile trolley cars are preserved and restored; a three mile trip is optional, which includes a mile-long tunnel, just the thing on a hot day! My wife and I both really enjoyed the combination of interpretive display, real relics, and actual trolleys, capped by a real trip on a car that's almost 100 years old, which goes to the facility where other cars are being restored. Enthusiastic volunteers. Really a great experience.

I was very surprised at the length of the tour. it goes from the museum to the ballpark and back. they stop or slow down to point out numerous points of interest along the way. the mile long tunnel is also pretty cool.

Visited this museum while traveling in the Wilkes-Barre Scranton area. Called ahead to make sure what times were available to take the trolley ride...1:30pm last Thursday was the first available (two other time slots were taken up by school groups) The museum was very good....documenting the history of the electric trolley for public transportation in Scranton and the trolley ride was neat....about 50 minutes long with the conductor talking about the trolley system in the old days. We ended up at the garage-work area for the trolleys...it also near PNC field. I understand on Sundays, when the minor league baseball team is in town, you can ride the trolley from the museum to the field. The trolley runs from Thursday-Sunday. The trolley station museum shares the parking lot with Steamtown National Park...my hubby was not interested in visiting it but it does look like there many train exibits and info about trains in general.

Excellent trolley ride and excellent museum.

I would suggest going when they are offering trolley rides. Check the website for the schedule.

This place is only a 10 minute ride from PNC field. If you're a baseball fan and a trolley history fan this is the perfect day trip.

This small, however, very informative museum is located directly across the parking lot from Steamtown.

If you want to explore the history of The Trolley in Scranton in particular and The Trolley in general, spend an hour or two here. You will be amazed and learn at the same time.

The bonus feature are the trolley runs which are operated on certain days, You tour Scranton and learn how people moved around prior to the advent of the interstate and the car.

This is a must see for adults, but especially children as they will gain great insight in the the lives of those who have gone before

Buy a combo ticket for the museum and the trolley ride. Watch the film in the theater when you arrive. They have a kid area with a wooden train set. You can climb on different trolleys in the museum. The trolley ride runs May through October, Thursday through Sunday. It departs at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 and 3 p.m.

Location is on the US Park Service property and shares the Steamtown boarding platform for the Trolley ride.
You can pay just to visit the museum, just for the trolley ride or for both. Visit to the museum and a ride was Adult $10.

Museum has a few static displays of trolleys some in good repair most not. The trolley ride is an hour and thru the local wood to the NY Yankee AAA affiliate ball park where their restoration shop is located. Would have been nice to tour the restoration shop and not just be the destination for them to turn the trolley around.

The Museum is nicely done with some exhibits, excellent one showing the inner workings of a trolley but some just a cluttered case of different "things" that do the same function.

The ride is enjoyable so at lest do that and at such a low price pay for the museum so you have something to do until you take the trolley ride which leaves at set times during the day but their day ends earlier then 5p when Steamtown closes.

The museum was small but nice. The people working there were friendly. Be sure to take the trolley ride, it is the highlight of the visit.
