Easy, pretty walk
Oct 2021 • Friends
Nice park with a beautiful waterfall, but it suffers a bit from being in the middle of Scranton. There is some graffiti and litter, but if you can ignore those things then it is a very pretty place.
The trails are pretty easy, but they do get rocky in some places so it may not be accessible to everyone.
Plenty of parking.

Great Park to visit, great walking paths and trails. Great museum, also found a great coffee shop. Very scenic, The gorge, tree house, veteran's memorial by the green house.

Perfect for kids to run around
Apr 2021 • Family
Plenty of trails and playgrounds for kids to run around or to get a nice walk. Also has a pool and water slides however the WERENT open yet. The wooden playground was a bit run down but still operable. Has a Mine museum and display that we didn’t get to see.

Stunning in Winter

Beautiful to hike around this marquee city park with lots of monuments and statues to distract one from it's awesome natural setting. A picture perfect small waterfall with made for taking selfies viewing areas - it was dangerous getting close to it. Ice blanketing the paths was incredibly slick. Even some young guys with a drone warned me against walking all the way down. I had to try though and luckily nothing happened. I did see some girl fall twice carrying her dog. This place is Scranton's crown jewel. You know there were a bunch of people waiting in cars circling the park's roads. Looks like they were on line for something. Not sure.

Enjoy the trails and picnic pavilions. Can't wait for the free concerts to start in the spring ! ..Sponsored by the City of Scranton and Lackawanna County.

Short Hike

We took a very short hike to see the top of the gorge and the treehouse. A very nice park and the trail seemed well maintained.

No Better place to take a hike/walk whule in the area
Feb 2020
As a local, I try to walk/hike this park once a year or more, as it has amazing vistas from numerous overlooks, and is a natural wonder unto itself. Great gorges of the Roaring Brook and semi-hard landscape make it a nice place to work up a sweat, or take a leisurely stroll, many options await. Many great memories of this gorge, especially in 2008, and it comes back every time I visit .

Nice place to take a hike

Weather was great and the park was very nice. Playground, tree house, bridge goes over the rushing river and several place to watch the trains from above. Highly recommend. Took a 8 and 10 year old and they were highly entertained.

Not what it used to be

Such a cool place! You can swim in two olympic suzed pools, jump off low and high diving boards, drive your car around the park, all of it. With a dollar, you can play pinball for an hour or more if your skilled. Ride the most dangerous roller coaster in the U.S. ride the Dodgems, get stuck and listen to the guy holler "turn the wheel" but didn't help. Watch the merry go round filled with kids eating cotton candy and smiling at their parents. Visiting sparky the baboon and challenging him to a tug of war with your wet towel.
Jumping all the rocks at the falls without barriers. In the winter; hockey on the duck pond and skating in the pools. Afterward, hot chocolate in the pavilion.
I went back but couldn't do any of that.
Left a lot of memories, but glad I left.
