Group Mystery Bus Tour to Scranton,Pa
Jun 2019
We were not told of the destination until the bus departed. Frankly we were not so excited to discover it was Scranton, Pa. known only as a place we passed through on our way to N.Y. In one respect the Houdini Museum was like most except more cluttered. To fully appreciate it one must search for items that stand out looking them over carefully before transferring attention to something else. To see the water tank leading to his death and hearing the true details was a high point particularly when told by someone that knew him personally. The rest is as enjoyable as you make it looking at show advertisements, photographs and props. The tour is capped off with a show performed by a magician that is said to be among the 10 highest rated in the world. True or not the show was very entertaining and well worthwhile. I personally judge visits like this one by how frequently I look at my watch. At the juncture I could not tell you how long we were there. Well worth seeing magic buff or not. For me, maybe even again if we are in the Scranton area.

Make this #1 to do in Scranton.

Must do. I've lived in Scranton 7 years now and I just went to this for first time yesterday. I hope everyone gets the opportunity to see these guys. They are terrific. Better than Vegas acts I've seen. Museum is just OK. But their show, well worth the money. Google them before you go so you can appreciate them more. They are actually celebrities in the world of magic. Can't wait to see them again.

Disappointment
Aug 2019
My child enjoyed the museum which was what really mattered. The tour was interesting although it was unorganized with artifacts and items shoved into corners that had not been displayed yet. It looked messy. Despite this being a Houdini museum, there was a lot of bragging about the two owners which although interesting, was overdone and had nothing to do about Houdini. The magic show was fun.

I LOVED THIS! Wonderful, interesting and abundant memorabilia. Great film. Entertaining and amazing magic show, complete with levitation, and disappearing/appearing animals. The hosts, Dorothy Dietrich and Dick Brookz, were the real thing--great magicians, full of knowledge about Houdini, and stories about magic and magic history. 3.5 hours of FUN!!

A lot of interesting memorabilia, bit crowded with stuff for the space, but lots to see everywhere you turn! Learned a lot about him and his life! Definitely a stop to make if you have ever been interested in Houdini or magicians!

We didn't have a reservation and after seeing the front of the building, we didn't even know if it was open. We called the number on the door and they were going to open at 1:00PM. There was a very small parking lot in the rear of the building. The lot started to fill up quickly. It is a very small place and you are pretty much with the 2 owners for about 2 1/2 hours. They take turns explaining things about Houndini and show you some items that were actually taken from his house. Dorothy is a magician and was wonderful. You can tell she has been doing this for a long time. She takes everything in stride and was wonderful with the small children and a special needs adult in the audience.

My family members stopped by . The museum was truly remarkable. So very interesting exhibits and presentations. The staff friendly and very helpful. The mystery of Houdini lives well at this place. We were represented by every age and we were all glad we visited.

Nice try
Oct 2018
I wanted to love this and I applaud the owners for trying to keep the Houdini magic alive, but we were sadly disappointed. First, finding it was difficult. Parking was terrible - we were parked lke sardines - one car after the other - with no way to leave if needed. Once in the Museum, we watched a poor quality video. We were then brought into a room with newspaper clippings everywhere and a few Houdini mementos. We were essentially given a 20-30 minute friendly lecture on the life of Houdini. My 4 year old was not amused. Neither was my 12 year old. I cannot say I enjoyed it either. We were then taken to another room for another 20-30 minute lecture. From there we were taken back to the "theatre" where we waited again with another grainy (but interesting) video and poor speakers. They then showed some card tricks and performed the magic show. They did do a nice job with this - very talented gal and my kids were so excited to see the real live animals. The show was definitely the highlight - well done! But overall, I sadly would not recommend this experience unless you are a genuine Houdini fan.

This museum. Is an unexpected treat for fans of magic or the occult. Dedicated to the long Fe if Houdini. It is a compilation of his life, his magic and entertainment for several hours. Check ahead as the times to visit sell out quickly and
They seem to be closed a lot but by all means go. A real treat
