The totem poles are family histories. The center explains how the paint is made, and how the poles are created.

A real must see. Stroll through the first and see native totems. You also walk close to the water and can see salmon headed upstream if in August. There are native craftsman, exhibits and short films about the native culture.

The Totem Pole Park is a very short distance from the center of town. You simply walk westward and it may be a 20 minute walk.

We flew into Sitka and self-directed our entire vacation, so I can't speak to what the cruise may offer. However, we walked to the park in the rain from our hotel and did the tour on our own. It is free and self-guided... More
