My wife and I went out with Davey in mid October and had the best time imaginable. Davey took us out in the sound and immediately put us in a pod of whales that were breaching, spy hopping and doing all the stuff that whales do best. This experience, dubbed 'whaleness' by Davey, was spectacular. Davey then proceeded to give us some natural history lessons and even pointed out a brown bear on the beach. We couldn't recommend Captain Davey enough - awesome guy, comfortable boat, and great tour!

I came to Sitka for a month and my trip with Davie was definitely one of the highlights. It is so worth the tour of the sound and his knowledge of the wildlife and community. He is super considerate of everyone, doing his best to keep passengers from getting seasick and providing warm drinks so we can keep standing on the deck and freaking out about the whales. Super nice guy, was a great time to hang out with, and was just as stoked about all the wildlife as anyone else on the boat. Thank you so much for taking us out!

Hands down, this is the best wildlife tour and captain in Sitka. It was a beautiful October morning in Sitka and Captain Davey picked us up in his warm, cozy boat with fresh muffins and coffee. We headed out to the Sound and saw a sea lion, dozens of humpback whales, local birds, seals, a bear, and even more. Davey is incredibly kind and knowledgable and truly made our experience unforgettable! If you're considering a tour in Sitka, this is definitely the one you want. We'll be back soon!

We’d heard about Sitka Wildlife Adventures from some fellow travelers, and so we splurged and booked a 4-hour tour with Davey Lupin about a month before heading to Sitka. We met up with Davey on an overcast day in July, and spent the next 4 hours with him on his custom-designed “Ester G 2”. This proved to be a super-comfortable and exceptionally well-designed water craft for the purpose of his guiding sightseeing customers around. It is fast and safe and completely fine regardless of whether it is raining or shining. We spent the next 4 hours watching humpback whales, orcas, and all manner of seabirds (Merls, Puffins, Gulls, Cormorants, etc.) nesting, frolicking, etc. We watched Falcons chasing after Bald Eagles and even a Falcon devouring a catch (another unlucky bird). And through it all we enjoyed learning so much from Davey about the history of this place and (when I asked) the Latin names of plants and even animals. Davey’s knowledge is simply encyclopedic and his manner super-friendly and enthusiastic. This is a journey for both young and old. Bring your camera, but no need for binoculars as Davey provides these. And invest in the 4 hour experience; 3 hours might not be quite enough. Simply a fantastic experience.

Davey is a wealth of knowledge on local history, geology, & sea life. Picked us up right on the cruise dock. A great guy, what a pleasure to spend the morning with him. We saw Black Tail Deer, Otters, Sea Lions, Eagles, and of course Humpbacks (at least a dozen). Ella’s homemade cookies brought smiles to us and the whales to the surface. Esther (Davey’s Boat) is Fantastic - smooth ride, handles well with plenty of power and speed when needed. Davey couldn’t be a better host - Book your trip here!
