From the start, captain Jeremy was super accommodating and passionate about sharing his love for the water and fishing. We were only in Sitka for a few hours, but Cpt. Jeremy agreed to take my husband and I out on the water for what turned into an epic hunt for fish. To allow us the most time on the water, he was waiting for us at the same pier as our cruise ship was docked. How’s that for dock to dock service!

He was super engaging, encouraging in the most hilarious ways, and extremely knowledgeable about the local area and all the fantastic fishing spots. You can tell that he is highly respected by other captains as there were several radioing him how their fishing trips were going and where fish were or weren’t biting.

Fishing with him is like fishing with your brother. You’re going to get picked on. You’re going to get teased. But he will have you laughing while struggling to reel in your prized catch. You will be safe, and well taken care of as he does everything but jump in and put a fish on your hook for you.

Can’t recommend him enough! We are already trying to plan out a multi day trip with him in the future. Until then, we are going to have to invite our friends and family over to enjoy the 17lbs of filets he had shipped to us! Not bad for a few hours out on the water!

My family and I were in Sitka for a funeral, and with only a weeks notice Jeremy was able to get us out fishing with his family! What a great guy. Kind, thoughtful, well spoken and punctual!
We met up at the harbor at 4:30am and I didn’t get home until 6pm, completely exhausted, my mind and expectations were totally blown away.
Everyone on board was having a blast, and after limiting out on kings, we caught a silver and a few halibut, then a ling cod, and a monster 74” halibut to finish out the day.
Jeremy is the real deal.
When you meet Jeremy, He treats you like a friend. When you leave the boat. You are friends.

Jeremy was the most excellent host for Judy and Fred McCraw. We fished with him 6/10/21 and we could not have asked for a better trip. He was instructive and patient since we are both over 70 with bygone fishing experience. He has been fishing these waters since he was 8 yo and knows where and when to pursue any fish you desire. We caught 9 king salmon in 90 minutes and one was a white salmon. Moved a little and we caught black rock bass. Moved slightly and began catching "yellow eyes." Next we moved on to the first halibut location. Slow. Moved to the second location and it was on. We boated 3 with one being 48.25 inches and two other keepers. We brought back 45# of filets which he arranged and they delivered them to the airport frozen and pre-packaged. You will not find a better guide and host than Jeremy. I hope to take him on a local charter if I can get him to come to Georgia.

Enjoyed a full day of ocean fishing. Captain Jeremy impressed us with his knowledge about the area, fishing techniques and relentless spirit in making our day enjoyable as well as successful. Jeremy and his crew member, Justin, worked hard to keep our hooks baited, offered teaching and tips to ensure a catch, kept our lines free from knots and our fish secured on deck! This was by far my favorite fishing experiences! Apart from fishing, the day was filled with laughter, good music and gorgeous Pacific views!!!The size of the boat worked perfectly for our group (Including the crew there were 7 adults and 1 dog). I highly recommend this charter company and their crew! Will definitely book again!

We had the lifetime adventure with #fishhappensllc and Captain Jeremy Downie; the experience worth multiple bucket lists. Saint Lazaria Island also called Bird Island is nesting bird colony with half-million breeding sea birds. It was absolutely breathtaking!
We also saw bold eagles, sea others, whales, orkas, sea lions, salmons jumping up the stream and even brown bear! Seeing so many animals during one trip is close to impossible but our Captain made sure it happened for us! It’s our second adventure with #fishhappensllc and I truly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Sitka! Jeremy, you rock in every aspect!

Jeremy (owner/operator) and Justin (deckhand) are incredibly exciting hosts, who are serious about getting clients into the fish and doing it with expediency and safely.
If you're looking to catch fish and pile them into the boat, go with Jeremy. Leave your ego behind and go with an open mind and a lot of enthusiasm.

You will catch fish.

We caught up with an old navy friend and did a couple days fishing with him. We (group of 3 navy friends) couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We’ve fished all over the states and this by far was our best trip ever. This man knows his waters and knows where the fish are. It was honestly the best fishing our group had experienced in a long time. If you are considering a trip to Sitka give Jeremy a call - you won’t regret it.

If you want to catch some guarantee Halibut, do this tour! Captain Jermey takes no BS and is the man. Some might find him hard to understand but after learning about his life story and time in the army, you'll really understand his personality. He means well and honestly don't think I would've had the same experience with another captain, that's for sure! He is very knowledgeable about fishing. Despite our nasty, rainy, choppy water of a day, Jeremy made the whole experience worth while. I was nervous to spend over 7 hours on the boat but honestly wished the day lasted longer! He also plays some sick rock n' roll playlists which made the whole experience that much more fun! If you're ever wanting to go fishing, booking with Fish Happens is DEF something you'd want to do in Alaska. Thank you for a time of our lives!

Captain Jeremy DELIVERS! This Salty Dog knows where the fish are and he puts you on'em. He's a cross between an MTV VJ from the 80's and Captain Ahab on the Pequod... in all the best ways. The fish were running, the tunes were blaring, and I swear that boat does 60knots!!!
We will be back Cap.
Thank you for your Service and making our adventure awesome!!

The real kind of fishing experience. Captain Jeremy provides the best ocean fishing with a flair for entertainment. Where other charters grow tired, you tell Jeremy truly loves the thrill of the chase and passes that on to his clients. Expect nicknames, and old-fashioned banter. It’s all a part of what makes this charter more memorable than the rest.
