About
Go ahead, get carried away...at Bear Mountain Ziplines in Luray, VA. Our Mama Bear Zipline tour includes 7 ziplines, for a total of 2700 ft of line racing through the forest canopy at up to 35 miles an hour. The last 1000 ft stretch brings you out over a meadow to land on the tower above our 3-story Bear Scramble climbing wall. Your trip starts with a rustic ride up a mountain road behind the tractor, where you’ll get comfortable with the zipline safety gear and procedures on the training zipline. Our professional guides have all been trained according to Association of Challenge Course (ACCT) requirements. We can confidently offer a safe as well as invigorating experience. We also offer a Bear Scramble climbing wall. Scramble up our 3-story climbing wall to ring the bell at the top. Our wall has multiple ascent paths and accommodates two climbers at a time, so you can come with a group and race your friends to the top! Access to the wall is available in half-hour increments, giving users many chances to improve their times, or try out a trickier path up. We use a state-of-the-art auto-belay system, allowing climbers to use the wall unassisted and rappel down under supervision by our certified guides. Please note that participants must weigh between 70 and 250 lbs and be at least 8 years of age to participate in the Mama Bear Zipline tour. The Bear Scramble can accommodate guests who weigh between 50 and 300 lbs.

My husband and I did the ziplining this morning and it was A BLAST! Katie and Tony were our guides and they were great - SO friendly. Katie was very conscious of wearing her mask while we were close on the platforms, which was very considerate. We really enjoyed talking to both of them and LOVED the ziplines. They were great instructors. The last few ziplines were long and fast and VERY enjoyable. I would highly recommend going here!

We could not have been happier with our experience and really want to sing the praises of our guides Katie and Brandon. We have very little experience with zip lines and they were patient, fun and wonderful with our young son. They created an instant camaraderie within the group and clearly love what they do. Be sure to have cash handy because it’s a nice courtesy to tip the guides if you can. Best also to book through the site – we called twice about availability for certain times and the person answering (not our guides) never could answer about day of (or) upcoming availability. If you have a preferred date and time, just be sure to book early online.

We thoroughly enjoyed our zipline tour at Bear Mountain.
Even though I grazed three trips and got hung up on the line twice, I recommend it as a fantastic way to spend several hours whizzing through the forest.
One comment--the operators should consider screening their clientele more thoroughly. Our group of seven included a preteen boy who freaked out on the practice run and a septuagenarian who had a panic attack halfway through the adventure and had to be belayed by rope to the ground. Apparently incidents like this happen about once a week.

The staff were exceptionally kind, very informative, friendly, and seemed very experienced with what they were doing; their instructions were straight forward and easy to understand. (Kudos to Cassie & Anna for doing their jobs so well!) The zip-lining in and of it self was fantastic. They drive your group up the mountain in a small tractor trailer to arrive at the first of seven platforms. All seven platforms were connected, with the lines gradually getting longer and longer to give newcomers a feel for it before they go onto the final line. That final line is the farthest reaching of them all, allowing the user to go up to 35 mph. They lead you through the course with one staff member on the platform you are on to secure the pulley to each line, and one staff member on the next platform, making sure you make a clean landing. Over all, this was a delightful zip-lining experience, and my family, family, and I had a great time.

My wife and I went on their zipline adventure the weekend they opened, many years ago. We were excited to find they have added a kids ropes course which includes a couple of ziplines, which we took advantage of during our visit over the 4th of July holiday. Our 7 year old daughter had an absolute blast, they allow you to go through the course twice. The cost is very reasonable at $25 and they provide all the safety equipment. We will definitely be back next time we visit the Yogi Bear Jellystone camp-resort in Luray. The staff was very friendly and professional.

Had a lot of fun with the Mama Bear zip line tour. My husband and myself, both in our early 50s, plus our 20-something son - all had a good time. There was another family with us, a couple with a young daughter, who seemed to equally enjoy themselves. The staff was very friendly and punctual, as we arrived at the appointed time to get geared up. They were very patient as they assisted everyone with each zip and I felt safe at all times with the provided equipment and methods they followed. Highly recommend!

It happened to rain that day but my gf and I were dressed for it and game. The other 12 folks in that group cancelled so we had both guides to ourselves and they were terrific! We did the entire course in about 15 minutes, which was fine; the only thing we missed was standing around on each platform in the rain to wait for 12 more people to come down. We live in Baltimore, so it may be a while until we pass through again, but would love to visit again. Great operation, very safety conscious, and one of the guides even gave us great recommendations for dinner and dessert in Harrisonburg, where we were heading further south.

We dropped in during our stay at the jellystone campground next door. The staff was able to accommodate us as walk-ins for the ropes course (recommend reservations for the zip lines). Anna, our guide, was amazing. Three of four young kids in our group were apprehensive and she completely accommodated. She even walked two children through personally. The kids loved the course and the customer service is second to none. Great excursion from the campground.

Whether your 7 or 70, the Bear Mountain Zipline is an AWESOME experience. We went for my grandson's 14th Birthday and everyone had a blast. The guides were patient, knowledgable and lots of fun. We all felt safe and well cared for. The younger set competed as they climbed the rock wall and we were all challenged using the high ropes course. Do It ALL...you won't regret it.

I was nervous as a first timer but the guides were serious about safety, but also charming. You could tell they wanted us to have a good time and we really did. I would recommend Bear Mountain Ziplines to anyone, unless you are afraid of heights.
