I remember taking our kids here so we stopped in with our grandson. I'm pretty sure the place was bigger than. Our highlight was feeding and petting the goats. It took us less than an hour to get through the whole zoo.

So this is a tough one to review. The kids like it because they loved the petting zoo. There were goats and a llama to feed which they loved. The monkeys were cute- with huge personalities. BUT I thought a lot of the place was rundown, some exhibits closed, and some of the animals seemed unhappy. The tiger was amazing... More

Great staff and perfect for smaller children. This is a small zoo so not alot of walking which was great for the 97 degree day when we visited. Great reptile house and a nice atmosphere. My sons loved it and want to revisit to see their new 3 month old camel. We'll make another trip out.

Looking for things to do in the area and found this. Its a very small zoo (3 acres) and pretty run down. The price is a little steep ($10 13 and up) for what it is. If your kids are young they will probably enjoy it. I took teenagers so, they were ready to go in about 15 minutes. The... More

This zoo is a home for rescued, surrendered, and injured wildlife. It is well tended, and you can tell the keepers have a love for the animals and what they do. Very easy to find, close to Luray Caverns. The parking lot is fairly small. We scheduled the after hours Discovery Tour, and it was a leisurely tour of the... More

I began visiting the Luray Zoo is a child with my parents approximately 30 years ago. We take our children each year, and they love it! Luray Zoo is the only rescue zoo in Virginia. It's a small, non-profit zoo with a purpose! The staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgable and I enjoy this zoo because it's small and you... More

We have been season pass holders at Luray Zoo for 2 years now. Where else can you play with baby goats, see tropical animals such as Bella the Macaque who rattles her cage and jumps on her cars hanging from ropes she is so happy to see you. The zoo is a true gem with a huge reptile collection including... More

This is a rescue zoo and how some of the animals got here is interesting. They had lots of reptiles. Two alligators. Birds. A kookaburra bird which made us laugh with his distinctive call. A petting zoo. A sweet wallaby or two. I enjoyed the zoo. It's not a very big zoo. So it doesn't take long to walk through.... More

Overall, the zoo is an interesting place to visit. They've done great things for a lot of the animals they've rescued, and conditions for the mammals and birds are pretty decent. However, the reptile enclosures, especially for the venomous snakes, are absolutely unacceptable. For those who don't keep reptiles, the ABSOLUTE BARE MINIMUM standard of care is access to water,... Our 4 & 6 year old kids had a good time. Having only about 10 parking spaces should give you an idea of the size and how quick you'll be out. But its well done and kept given what they're working with and a good size for young kids to have fun just before they start losing attention span and... More
