We were there for the Redwood Media art show, but the architectural design & art installations in the center itself captured our hearts. From the wood ceilings & beams to the woven carpets, this community structure has so much more warmth & cultural charm than your average convention center

The fish sculptures outside are worth a walk-by, and if you have time, for a brief swim with them. They are outside and easy to find.

For a summer's convention, the center was kept uncomfortably cold. There were two projectors set up to illuminate the presenters' slides. One of them was consistently out of alignment. Sound system was good for voice, terrible for music. Coffee was week, sweet rolls were bottom line.

My wife and I visited Santa Fe while on vacation in New Mexico. Our first stop while in Santa Fe was to visit the Convention Center where the Visitors Center is located.

The building is beautiful both inside and out and really attracts your attention with its Southwest style of architecture. The visitors center inside is staffed and full of great information of things to do, attractions, restaurant information and of course this is where you get your Passports" for the Margarita Trail.....

So check out the convention center and get those Passports.....It is Margarita time!

Our first stop came when, passing by on the street, we were drawn to the larger-than-life metal sculpture of an Army Ranger (in his dress uniform), sporting a big smile and extending his steel, artificial hand to shake hands. Wow, what a powerful piece! We read his story on the plaque. This truly was a larger-than-life hero; Staff Sgt. Leroy Petry is the stuff legends are made from. Rambo and all the super-heroes should move over and recognize the real McCoy. Thank you for your service, soldier.

The whole complex has several buildings and some really great courtyards. For a small city, Santa Fe created a little materpiece of an oasis. There's a helpful info office with brochures and staff to answer every question, an auditorium/conference room (just so beautiful), and an art gallery in one of the public buildings.

The outdoor garden is exceptional and we loved the whimsical fish swimming throgh the gravel. But then, this is Santa Fe, home of world-class art and all things artistic.

The Civic Center complex is bordered by: Lincoln, Marcy, Grant, and So. Federal (behind the Post Office).
