While small and certainly less open during COVID times (I’d imagine), I still recommend this area for a nice, relaxing stroll or bike ride. The “district,” per se, comprises the train depot (Rail Runner service between Santa Fe and Albuquerque), integrated walking paths, breweries/coffee shops/boutiques, and even recognized brands like REI. There is something for everyone to enjoy here. I do concur with reviews mentioning the lack of businesses, although if one treats this as merely a stress-free environment to walk and catch your breath, perhaps you’d look at the Railyard from another lens.

Thanks for maintaining the Santa Fe Railyard for the local and tourist community!

We just returned from a 3 nights stay at the Inn and Spa at Loretta in Santa Fe. It was a marvelous experience. A major positive of the Inn was the staff. From the moment we pulled in every employee we encountered made us feel so very welcome. The assistant manager took us to our beautiful room; the desk crew were always available—smiling and helpful. One even offered to take an item to the PO for us when we inquired about its location. It’s a beautiful property—tucked into a perfect location for walking to many of the special places in Santa Fe. AND Carolina who served us in the bar area was delightful. Such nice memories we have (2 couples).

We visited 1.5 years ago in the winter and went into shops in the Railyard. This time we visited over 4th of July weekend and went to the Saturday market. We parked behind some of the galleries and paid for 2 hours to explore. The Saturday Market was split into 2 parts on each side of the tracks. One side is arts and crafts, while the other side is primarily locally grown/ produced foods. We arrived a bit before 11 and it was definitely busy. I ended up getting a bagel, egg salad, and a chai. I opted to sit and listen to some local musicians for a bit. Eventually it did quiet down and we bought some local honey 🍯 as a gift. The atmosphere was fun and the market was well laid out too.

Granted we are living in covid times currently. All reviews were positive, we actually booked a nearby hotel. We walked there this morning, and there is nothing there! One coffee shop open, REI opened at 10. It did not even look like there were other places that just weren’t open! There was nothing else. Huge disappointment!

If you are coming to Santa Fe for the visual art, don't just walk Canyon Road and go home! Remember that the Railyards house most of the city's top-end galleries, not to mention a great public gallery, SITE Santa Fe. There are also places to eat (La Choza is nearby, as is Boxcar Restaurant), places to walk, like the beautiful park, a lovely movie theatre - The Royal Crown, and then there are the markets - farmers market Tuesdays and Saturdays (Sat. only during the winter) and indoor winter market in El Museo on Sundays. It's a morning or afternoon well spent!

This area used to be the key interchange for three railroads but now holds shops, restaurants, art galleries, gardens, a children's play area and more. We went here twice during our recent Santa Fe stay, but not specifically to see the Railyard itself. As our hotel was nearby, we dropped by the Santa Fe Tourism Visitor Center here to talk with an extremely helpful employee and to pick up brochures. On our way, we passed the Jean Cocteau Cinema on the Railyard's northern edge and noted that "Dunkirk" was on. This would have drawn us back for a third time, but the film was playing when we needed to be elsewhere.

On this trip, we also went to the Railyard for the Saturday morning Farmers Market. It had myriad vendors, selling everything from fresh produce to yak meat outside. There were also items offered inside a nearby building, including merchandise in a gift shop. This fun, crowded event brought in far more visitors to the Railyard than I saw on the weekday afternoon that I went to the Visitor Center. Across the tracks, an artisans market operated with paintings, jewelry, pottery, etc., for sale.

Two trains still operate on the tracks. One is the Santa Fe Southern Railway, which offers excursions. The other is the NM Railrunner Express that operates between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. We usually fly into Albuquerque and rent a car to go to Santa Fe on our annual visits. But next year, we plan to take a free shuttle from the airport to the Railrunner's Albuquerque station and ride the train to the Railyard.

This 50-acre well-maintained complex sprawls less than 1 mile southwest of Downtown and should be an easy walk for many. For those driving a vehicle, there are metered parking spaces and two parking garages. Free daily shuttle service also exists to the Railyard from the Historic Plaza and other stops.

The Railyard is really a neighborhood. It has galleries, food, adult beverages, a huge park, and lots of attractions within short walks.

Apparently there are no longer any taxis available in Santa Fe so get your shuttle, ride, or Uber sorted before you arrive in Santa Fe.

We arrived in SF by train on a Sunday and the depot itself was closed. Did not have an Uber account. luckily a Sandia shuttle passed close-by and I was able to flag it down.
