We quickly learned that one must be careful buying “authentic” Native American made carvings, jewelry, and folk art from many Santa Fe stores. If you are interested in buying such items and supporting the makers, buy them here. This store has a long history with area Native American carvers/silver-smiths and they care deeply about supporting their makers. The ladies working in the store were all VERY helpful. This store is a MUST if you are in Santa Fe.

Downtown Santa Fe can be overwhelming but take a few steps away from the heart of things and you'll find Sun Country Traders. It is a lovely shop. Open, airy, well maintained and brightly decorated with all manner of local artistry. The best feature about this shop, however, are the individuals in the shop. They are knowledgeable and friendly.

Nice shop with very friendly, knowledgeable staff. The person who assisted me with my purchase explained the process for making the beads and where they are from (Santo Domingo Pueblo). She also took the time to tell me about other great things to do in the area. As I was checking out the artist who made my necklace came out from the back so I got to meet her. I highly recommend this shop!

I was walking around town & found this great shop for hand crafted jewelry to bring back as souvenirs. Two of the 4 sets of earrings I purchased were made by the woman who helped me, but she didn’t tell me until after I made my selection because she didn’t want to influence my decision. I sound out she came from a family of silversmiths. The store has a broad selection @ fair prices.

So my family of 9 came in here and this place was great. I researched the best places for Hopi style kachina's and this was one. Dee, one of the employees of the shop, was great. So friendly and we found out we are all from the same area in Massachusetts. What a small world! In any event, she never pushed us to buy anything and it was a great shopping experience. We saw a man in the store shopping and he looked like Robert Englund aka Freddy Kruger and I went and asked him and sure enough it was! He was so nice, talked to us for a while and down to earth. Not typical for today's actors. What a great surprise that was for us and one of the highlights of our trip to Santa Fe!
