COMPLETELY OVERRATED. I've been to a lot of spas and had bookings at another santa fe spa and got caught up in all of these positive reviews so we switched plans and came here. Big disappointment.

Thanks for the de-stress, Shin Kobuta tub!
Sep 2021
Really enjoyed lunch at Izanami and private soak in Shin Kobuta tub. Mother daughter trip was special to us, and the staff at Ten Thousand Waves are very friendly. I have been to this spa various times over past 16 years. Not a big fan of how it has changed and expanded, but then again, it seems like nothing ever retains its original charm when greed (?) sets in. I miss the old gift shop and locker room set up, too. Oh well. Still an amazing experience.

Great soaking tubs
Oct 2021
Fabulous soaking experience. I love thermal baths and the cycle of hot/cold/hot etc so I knew I wanted to book a tub here. I booked the New Wave tub for my husband and I and it was perfect! 90 min was a good amount of time for us to do a few cycles between the hot pool, the cold plunge and the sauna. There was a bathroom for us to shower pre/post soaking, with towels, toiletries, and a drybar hair dryer.

The grounds themselves were also amazing - beautiful and peaceful, with different meditation spaces (we did not take advantage though).

Highly recommend!

Waterfall Tub
Sep 2021 • Couples
This was my 8th visit to Ten Thousand Waves so it’s no surprise I love it!! This was my first visit since Covid and they are really taking it seriously and making sure it’s a safe environment. You have to show proof of vaccination to have any services, including the private hot tubs, which is what my husband and I enjoyed. We had the Waterfall tub which was huge (I think it’s recommended for families) with an ambient-temperature plunge pool that wasn’t very big, but enough for two people. There is also a sauna and a well-appointed bathroom. It’s a huge space that also has Adirondack chairs to relax in if you want a break from the tub. Absolutely lovely!

Spa nice; restaurant, don't bother
Sep 2021
We had spa services today totaling over $400. The spa services were great, We then wanted a bit of food and a cup of tea after the services and went to the restaurant. It was about 4:10 and both outside dining rooms were deserted except for one table at which people had been seated. We asked for a table outside or inside whatever was available and were told that we could not be seated because we did not have a reservation and the 2 hostesses could not seat people until 5:00. I mentioned that there were numerous empty tables and only one seated group. The hostesses said they got to sit there because they had reservations. This made no sense at all since there were probably 25-30 tables empty and the hostesses while not rude were not welcoming or apologetic nor went out of their way to be hospitable. If this is a full service spa/lodging/restaurant they need to work on meeting customer's needs and at least offering a polite explanation for failure to do so.

Fantastic massage in magical setting
Aug 2021
The environment at the spa at Ten Thousand Waves is one of peace and beauty - perfect for a time of deep relaxation. I went for a massage, and was first shown the locker room for a shower and given a kimono to relax in. I waited in the outside area (there is also an inside place to wait with a fireplace) with my feet in a warm soaking pool, while looking at a gorgeous waterfall and Koi pond (with the biggest Koi I have ever seen!). The 80 minute massage (which included a special foot treatment) by Lotus was, honestly, one of the best I have ever received. She was very attuned to my needs, while also being very respectful of my quiet time. After the massage I went back to the foot soaking pool to relax for as long as I wanted. Although I didn't use them this time, I also had access to the Grand Bath and Meditation Room - so leave plenty of time. Yes, it is on the expensive side, and worth every penny. This was an absolutely delightful experience, and I am already looking forward to going back.

RUDE employees, LOUD/HAMMERING throughout, RUDE employees!
Aug 2021
Just AWFUL! Walked into the lobby to see the front desk manager berating a client for asking about the wifi. He made her wait 10 minutes before offering her the phone to call for her pick-up ride. There were workmen EVERYWHERE, hammering, circling around people with the tools. Clients were walking around in robes in front of all these workmen. Atmosphere was NOT spa-like. Employees (more than one) were arrogant and rude. WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY overpriced in all aspects.

Shame on them!
Aug 2021
As a 20 year resident of SF, I used to frequent this spa and enjoyed it tremendously. I went the other night for a private tub bc. the women's tub was gone and what a disappointing experience. The fact that they've made it unaffordable for locals is terrible. Y'all used to rely on us locals for not peak tourist times. Also I saw were VERY few guests there, which was not surprising. They took a beautiful, magical place and ruined it, made it all about making as much money as possible. Their $200. massages just aren't worth $200! I'll be going elsewhere. Ojo Caliente is a great alternative!! Check it out!

My Favorite Thing to Do in Santa Fe
Aug 2021
Having a private soak at Ten Thousand Waves is my favorite thing to do when in Santa Fe. On this not-even-a-week vacation I soaked three times...twice in Shoji bath in the evening and once in Waterfall bath in the morning. I had pre-booked these and you really need to do that to get the bath and time you want. Baths open up 45 days in advance for booking.

Shoji (capacity 3) is a bath with a tile tub with jacuzzi jets, cold plunge, Adirondack chair, warming booth, and dry-wet sauna. Waterfall (capacity 8) is a bath that has a much larger “tub” that looks like a small pond. It has a section with seating and jacuzzi jets where it’s not as deep. The main part though is about 4 feet deep which is a different, but great, experience. Waterfall has an ambient cold plunge, 3 Adirondack chairs, bench, and dry-wet sauna. The hot baths are typically between 104 and 106 degrees. Both have cold water (pitcher in Shoji and fountain in Waterfall) and cups (important to keep hydrated!).

Things were different than in the past as they’ve made changes to accommodate COVID. They’ve eliminated the locker room where you would change, shower, and put on your robe before going to your baths. Now each bath has their own bathroom with shower. Both Shoji and Waterfall had a new bathroom installed with toilet, sink, and shower. Shoji had a second outdoor shower for use. Robes are no longer automatically provided, but you can request one if you wish. I saw no need.

All reservations are now for a 90-minute period (used to be 55 or 85 minutes) and that includes your changing and showering time. The current cost with tax per person is $73.92. I actually found this new set up even more relaxing than before. I imagine (and hope) this is a permanent change with all the new hardware and plumbing.

My only disappointment (and it really didn’t even arise to that) was that the cooling unit for the cold plunge in Shoji was broken and they were waiting for a part. Normally the cold plunge is about 55 degrees, but it was ambient on my visit. Still cool and refreshing, but not that exhilarating shock when it’s so cold!

This time I also brought a small Bluetooth player I have so I could play some relaxing music from my iPhone and actually hear it! (I didn’t play it so loud that any one ELSE could hear it outside my bath, though!) The evening was perfect moving from daylight to night while I was in Shoji and it was the perfect way to start the day when I was in Waterfall.

Looking forward to more soaks in November!!!
