Its a rock with a hiking trail. On the way to Taos and Buffalo Thunder you pass this rock. It is easy to see that it's cool but you don't really see the Camel unless you use your imagination. Still interesting.

We were on our way to El Santuario De Chimayo going a scenic route so we were driving past the monument. If you're on the highway try taking a pic as you pass because it doesn't offer much else. There is a bit of a...More

I love the pictures we got here, and they're super cute and you won't regret the snap, but thats all this place is. I thought we were going to some majestic park to hike to the 'camel" but its basically a rest stop on the...More

This is immediately off of I-25 and visible from the interstate. As others have said the closer you get the harder it is to see it looking like a camel. Also you can no longer walk up to it as it is surrounded by a...More

This is a fun spot to visit. On one side is the camel and on the other side is the inspiration for the movie ET.

Located just off Interstate 25, Camel Rock is always worth a glance, and never fails to surprise at its likeness to a real resting camel. Even easier to spot now, with the nearby, and heavily advertised Camel Rock casino.

Right off 285/84 so a nice place to stop and take a break from driving. Kind of a shame they have to have such an ugly fence around the rock but still a good opportunity for photos!

This really does look like a camel. You can see it on the left going north from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, or on the right going south.

If you are driving from Taos to Santa Fe, or the other way around, this unusual rock formation, located on the Teseque Indian Reservation, provides a good reason to pull off the road, and to stretch your legs and take a few pictures. Warning: The...More

There is no second camel. The nose fell off very recently. Thought to be due to erosion over time.
